Naniwa Boys’ Kendo Nagao Show Up at a Fast Food Restaurant Before It Opens
Drama starring Jun Matsumoto of Arashi attracts attention
With new dramas starting to air one after another in July, two remakes of hit dramas are now the talk of the town this season. FRIDAY caught up with the filming of the Reiwa version of “Papa to Musume no 7 Nichijou” (TBS), which aired in 2007.
One day in late June at around 9:00 a.m., Kento Nagao (19) of “Naniwa Danshi” was spotted in Nihonbashi. Nagao was playing the role of a high school student whom the heroine has feelings for in “Papa to Musume no 7 Nichijou (Seven Days of Papa and Musume).”
The filming took place at a fast food restaurant before it opened. It was an early morning shoot, but Nagao was smiling and in a good mood the whole time, chatting with the staff.
Naniwa Danshi is an idol group that debuted last year and is all from the Kansai region. They are popular for their ability to get around in a variety of situations and for the fact that many of their members can act. Nagao, in particular, is an aspiring actor who joined Johnny’s because of his admiration for Toma Ikuta (37).
“In the January season of “My Neighbor’s Chikara” (TV Asahi), he played the role of a high school student who lives with his grandmother, played by Jun Fubuki (70). He played a quiet boy, but he gave a good performance in which you could feel the struggles that are unique to adolescence. He also has a sense of humor, and I feel that he has the potential to become a great versatile actor,” said entertainment reporter Kaoru Shimada.
Nagao is the youngest of the members. He has recently taught himself how to dress, and has designed nine different kinds of costumes, amounting to more than 60 outfits. With his excellent sense of style and solid character, he is sure to further distinguish himself as an actor.
