Haruka Ayase in Her First Role as a Married Woman with Takuya Kimura

The press conference for “THE LEGEND & BUTTERFLY,” starring Takuya Kimura (49) and co-starring Haruka Ayase (37), was held in Tokyo on March 21.

The film is a commemorative work for Toei’s 70th anniversary and is a blockbuster production with a total production cost of 2 billion yen. Kimura plays the role of warlord Oda Nobunaga, and Ayase plays Nobunaga’s wife, Princess Nohime, in this story of a married couple’s love toward their dream of unifying the country.

Ayase was dressed in a modern monotone dress. She was joined on stage by Kimura, director Keishi Otomo, and Ryota Furusawa, who wrote the script.

The film started in September last year and was completed in January. It has been 12 years since Kimura and Ayase co-starred in the 2011 TBS drama “Antarctica,” and this is their first time playing a married couple. Ayase reflected on her scenes with Kimura.

It was fun to play a married couple for the first time. This time there were action scenes, and Kimura is athletic, so we had a lot of fun!”

Kimura was quick to answer, “That’s you, isn’t it? “Ayase replied humbly, “No, no, no, no (laugh).”

Kimura replied, “As you probably know, Ms. Ayase looks calm and collected, but when she moves, she’s just amazing. The director asked me, ‘Isn’t that difficult to do?’ She is the kind of actor who responds to requests from the director”

She also said, “Even when we were not together in a scene, I kept Hime Nohime’s presence in my mind while we were shooting. I was really grateful that Princess Nohime was Ayase,” he continued in praise of her.

Was Ayase-san the same way? Ayase answered, “Yes, of course!” However, Kimura, who was standing next to Ayase, made some kind of comment to Ayase without using the microphone.

Ayase laughed out loud at his comment and said, “It’s true! I don’t think only about food! ”

She smiled and said, “I was acting based on the presence of Mr. Kimura and his reassurance that no matter what I did, he would accept me.”

Director Otomo said, “I’m in the middle of finishing up the film,” in preparation for its release on January 27, 2023.
