Fans Await Teruyuki Kagawa’s TV Comeback as He’s Seen with Long, Brown Hair
He’s been off TV for around two years, creating a buzz with a dramatic transformation.
In late May afternoon, unexpectedly hot for the season, a FRIDAY reporter encountered a stylish middle-aged man with long, brown hair resembling a surfer’s look in a quiet residential area. At first glance, his identity wasn’t apparent, but it turned out to be Teruyuki Kagawa (58), known for his roles in kabuki theater, particularly as the 9th generation Ichikawa Nakamura, and as an actor.
Kagawa gained notoriety in 2022 when Weekly Shincho reported his scandalous act of stripping a Ginza hostess of her underwear. Since then, he has almost entirely withdrawn from television appearances, disappearing from terrestrial broadcasts despite being at the height of his popularity.
Four days after being spotted by the reporter, Kagawa posted a recent photo on his own SNS, causing a massive buzz due to his remarkable transformation.
“Even after disappearing from terrestrial TV, he has proven to be a figure that captures public attention. In May, he successfully led the Nagoya performance of ‘Super Kabuki Yamato Takeru.’ His achievements in the kabuki world have led to frequent mentions of his name in casting meetings for terrestrial TV dramas.
Securing sponsors is likely the final hurdle, but there’s a growing demand from viewers who want to see Kagawa’s passionate acting on television.” (executive from a television production company)
Regarding the bold transformation and his intentions to return to terrestrial TV, when directly approached, Kagawa himself responded with a smile, “There’s no particular reason! As for a return, I haven’t heard anything about that. I don’t know.” He then swiftly rode away on his bicycle.
Will the mysterious actor return to terrestrial TV in his new second form with long, brown hair?
The sporty side of the “mysterious actor” you won’t see on TV!
