2025Next Break Talent "Flesh Interview
I realized I had made it big when my bets on boat races increased by a single digit.
Mitsuho Fukudome (21), a member of AKB48 for about three years until July 2010, first made a name for herself in March 2012 when she appeared on Nobuyuki Sakuma’s (49) YouTube channel, “Nobuyuki Sakuma’s NOBROCK TV.
He was asked recklessly, “Please tell me about a TV show with a title like ‘I tried to drain all the water out of a pond,'” but he answered, “I tried to clean my grandfather’s navel” in just five seconds.
The show was a big hit, and Mr. Sakuma praised the show on “All Night Nippon,” saying, “I’ve found a great talent,” which led to his appearance on “Odoru! Sanma Goten! (Nippon Television Network Corporation) and other variety shows. (Nippon Television Network Corporation), which catapulted her to stardom as Reiwa’s “queen of comedy,” but she admits modestly, “Honestly, I don’t do comedy.
To be honest, it’s hard for me to do comedy. I still don’t think my answers are funny, so I don’t know why everyone is so excited about me.
A possible love affair with a boat racer…?
Fukudome’s fame was further enhanced by his unparalleled love of boat racing. Born into a family where his grandfather and father were boat racing enthusiasts, he visited the racecourse from an early age. He is so hardcore that he carries the boat ticket of his favorite racer, Makoto Busujima (40), in his phone case as a good-luck charm.
In the October 11, 2012 issue of this magazine, I wrote about Fukudome as a “candidate for the new top bulldog” and encouraged him, saying, “The only thing that worries me is his love life. When I showed the article to Fukudome, he said.
I showed him the article and he said, “I saw it! I was so scared that my name would appear in FRIDAY (laughs). I heard people are worried about my love affair with a racer, but seriously, that will never happen, so please don’t worry. Because if I married a racer, I wouldn’t be able to buy boat tickets anymore (laughs).
The January 24/31 issue of “FRIDAY” and the paid version of “FRIDAY GOLD,” both of which go on sale on January 10, feature Fukudome’s true feelings about her “flame wars,” her ideal type of man, and more, with no nonsense.
