Miss Magazine Alum Rino Oshima Returns to Her Dream with a Comeback Gravure Shoot
Actor Rino Oshima (23) made her first appearance in FRIDAY, showing off her gravure for the first time in a year! We asked her about her stoic body and her memories of working as a reporter for "King's Brunch" for two and a half years.
In “King’s Brunch,” she interviewed Will Smith!
I have nothing but gratitude for Miss Maga. Receiving this crown has definitely helped me to pave the way for my career. I am still good friends with my Miss Maga classmates, and recently I went out to dinner with Masaya Yamaoka.
It has been about three years since she won the “Miss Magazine 2021” Special Jury Prize. When she was 20 years old and had just moved to Tokyo from Gunma Prefecture, Rino Oshima showed off her swimsuit in front of the camera for the first time in her life.
I told my manager at the time that my goal was still to become an actor, but I wanted to get my start in gravure. So I decided to try out for Miss Maga.
When I stood in front of the camera in front of the camera in a swimsuit for the first time at the audition, I felt a fresh sensation that I had never felt before. I had worn school swimsuits and swimming suits before, but this was the first time for me to be photographed in a bikini. It was fun to see how it felt like, how it would look when I moved like this, and how everything was fresh and new.
Rino Oshima, a member of the “Miss Maga” team, said, “After I won the judges’ special award at Miss Maga, I started working as a reporter for “King’s Brunch” (TBS), and it seemed like my path was opened up at once. The three years since I received the award have flown by so fast that I feel like I’ve been running through it.
Recently, I have been getting more and more acting jobs, and I have also taken on the challenge of doing recitations. My hometown is Kiryu City in Gunma Prefecture, and I have been appointed “Kiryu City Charm Ambassador” since March 2024. Every day I am fulfilled by my various jobs.
She is steadily expanding her field of activities, including being selected as the cover model for the book “The Pearl King’s Daughter” (Hitomi Fujimoto, Kodansha), a literary monograph published in October 2024. As she says, her start as a reporter for “King’s Brunch” in April 2022 was an opportunity to raise her profile significantly.
When I first saw the program I appeared on air, I thought, ‘Oh, I’m a TV person’ (laughs). (Laughs). I was a little embarrassed, but I was also happy.
I graduated from “King’s Brunch” as a reporter at the end of September, and I think it was a really valuable experience for me. In particular, I will never forget interviewing Will Smith for the movie section. I was very happy that the director at the time knew that I was a movie buff and cast me. I hope to use this experience as a springboard for further acting.
I’ve put all my energy into this shoot today (laughs).”
Oshima made her first appearance in FRIDAY in her first gravure shoot in a long time.
It’s been about a year since I did a gravure shoot. During the time I took a break, I had been doing muscle training because I wanted to continue doing gravure for a long time. I kept myself ready to stand in front of the camera at any time. ”
Her daily updates of her training on Instagram, known as “rinotore,” have been a big hit with her fans.
She says, ” I am the type of person who doesn’t go to the gym but does muscle training alone at home on a training sheet in a corner of the house. At first, I only did sit-ups and hip-ups, but one day I set a goal: “I want to break my abs! I then started to look up “how to get abs” on the Internet and started to do “how to get abs. I found a method called “heat training” on the Internet, and it was only last summer that I successfully cracked my abs. 30 seconds of movement followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated over several sets, is quite hard.
I was offered a photogravure photo shoot by FRIDAY, so I worked out hard for a week to get ready for the shoot. In addition to the muscle training I do on a daily basis, I also did some extra training to make my body look good, took a sauna to get rid of water, and restricted my diet. After all, I’ve put all my energy into this shoot (laughs).
Oshima is training with the posture of an athlete. Her abs are as you can see in the magazine, but what is her motivation for her stoic muscle training?
She says, “I really feel the support of my fans through social networking sites. When I announced that I wanted to do gravure, they shared it and gave me words of support. I want to live up to the expectations of these fans and repay them. They spend a lot of time and money to support me, so I have to repay them by performing well. With that in mind, I can work hard even during the toughest training sessions. I am determined to work hard and provide a better product.
Oshima will turn 24 on November 25, 2024. We asked him about his dreams and goals for the future.
I would like to be on the cover of FRIDAY someday, now that I have come back to gravure with a new ideal in mind! First of all, I want to do my best to get the word out so that the photos I took this time will reach as many people as possible, so that I can have another chance.
