One girl earns 100,000 by working part-time at a local family restaurant, but it seems that quick money is the key to success. Clothes, Chanel bags, overseas trips. There are so many things they want, so many things they want to do. In order to get what they want, they continue to sell their bodies.

“I’m thinking of buying a cell phone,” one of them said. I heard that some junior high school students have one. I can’t lose.

One junior high school student sold her virginity for 100,000 yen.

It was around the end of 1993 that the media began to report on the lives of the junior high school girls known as “magogals. In the December 10, 1993 issue, this magazine reported that a significant number of junior high school students were among the flamboyantly dressed girls who hung out on Shibuya Center Street on Saturday nights. Some of them, like some kogals, used “teleclubs” and “high school girls’ dating clubs” to urinate, and one girl testified in the article, “Atashi, I sold my virginity for 100,000 yen.

The “aid-giving” craze declined with the enactment of the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Law in 1999, and reports about Kogyaru have since disappeared. However, while “kogyaru” has become a part of “gyaru” culture, with the fashions of the boom era still being passed down today, “magogyaru” has become a dead word.

After all, they are younger than “kogyaru,” but what they do is the same. And perhaps it is because everyone has become a “kogyal” after two or three years.
