Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys Visits Japan as a Refined and Charismatic Gentleman

A handsome man who was the most popular guy in the world

As soon as he appeared in the arrival lobby of Haneda Airport, he was surrounded by numerous fans—Nick Carter (45) of the popular boy band Backstreet Boys (BSB).

Formed in 1993, BSB achieved their first No. 1 album in the U.S. with Millennium in 1999. That same year, their hit song I Want It That Way topped the foreign music charts in Japan. With total album sales exceeding 140 million copies, they are a true superband.

“In 2002, Nick began his solo career and has released four albums so far. Currently, he is in the midst of his Who I Am tour, which has been receiving praise worldwide. As part of this tour, he came to Japan, where fans went wild for his three consecutive live performances starting on March 11.

Among the members, Nick, with his model-like beauty, was overwhelmingly popular among female fans worldwide. In his 20s, he famously declared, ‘I have no intention of getting married’ and led a flashy lifestyle, being romantically linked to Paris Hilton (44) and others. However, after meeting actress Lauren Kitt (41), he abruptly gave up his playboy ways. The two dated for four years before getting married, and now, as a father of three, he has transformed into a charming and mature man,” says a music magazine journalist.

Although Nick appeared a bit tired while walking through the airport, a long procession of female fans followed him like a grand parade. He smiled as he received gifts and even took time to pose for photos with fans.

In 2023, BSB held their first Japan tour in a decade, but there is no confirmed date for their next visit. Hopefully, next time, all the members will return together for a live concert.
