Ren Meguro of ‘Snow Man,’ who stars in the Monday 9 PM drama ‘Umi no Hajimari’.

It has become clear that Ren Meguro of ‘Snow Man’ has been on hiatus due to poor health, and concerns have been raised.

STARTO ENTERTAINMENT on August 21:

“We have been on hiatus since the 15th due to poor health.”

Reported.

“We have established a period of rest as advised by the doctor, but his health is recovering smoothly, and he is scheduled to gradually return to work.”

It was stated. Consequently, the broadcast of the ninth episode of the Monday 9 PM drama ‘Umi no Hajimari’ (Fuji TV) scheduled for August 26 will be postponed by one week to September 2.

Although the cause of the health issues was avoided, it was well known that he had been very busy.

After wrapping up filming for his starring movie ‘Trillion Game’ in March, filming for ‘Umi no Hajimari’ began in May. This spring, he was appointed as the first Japanese male FENDI brand ambassador and also actively worked as a model. Additionally, he was involved in group activities like ‘Sore Snow Man ni Yarasete Kudasai’ (TBS) and CM shoots.

When asked about how he spends his days off at an event held in June,

“Sleeping to my heart’s content.”

Answered immediately.

“I like to sleep until I wake up at the time I want without setting an alarm. If I really go for it, I can sleep for about 20 hours.”

He said.

“Even among the members, Meguro’s exhaustion was a concern. It is said that he would fall asleep within minutes as soon as he got into the location van for the next place. Seeing Meguro like this, the members even suggested to the company, ‘Can’t we do something about this?’” (Sports newspaper reporter)

However, the person himself did not complain about the work assigned to him. On the contrary, on the set of ‘Umi no Hajimari,’ he interacted with his co-stars with a smile and never moved to a ‘cool place’ even during the scorching filming.

Behind this professional attitude, there is said to be the influence of former SMAP member Takuya Kimura.

The two appeared together in the Fuji TV drama ‘Kyokasho II’ which aired in January 2021. Meguro played a student role opposite Kimura, who portrayed the police academy instructor Kazama Kimichika.

Meguro would wait for Kimura on set standing still and greet him with:

“I’m Ren Meguro from Snow Man. Thank you for today as well!”

At that time, Kimura mentioned on his radio show:

“He says it every time, which I’m grateful for.”

Speaking happily.

Additionally, there was a time when Kimura was told by Meguro:

“Actually, there was a time during my junior days when I seriously thought about quitting.”

However, after listening to SMAP’s ‘Kono Shunkan, Kitto Yume Janai,’

“Thanks to that song, I am who I am today.”

He reconsidered and conveyed.

“Since then, Kimura has been paying special attention to Meguro. Meguro also admires Kimura, even being the first to send a message on Kimura’s birthday.

Kimura is considered ‘the most professional in the entertainment industry’ in terms of how he approaches work. Meguro has been instilled with the ‘Kimura-ism’ in his attitude towards his work,” said the sports newspaper reporter.

Kimura does not set up individual dressing rooms for filming; instead, he spends time with his co-stars as much as possible. He also never forgets to express gratitude to the staff on set, frequently bringing in gifts. In preparing for his role, Kimura’s script is already worn out by the first day of rehearsals.

“Not only does he have his own lines perfectly memorized, but he also knows the co-stars’ lines perfectly. I’ve never seen someone like that. Being with Kimura changes one’s concept of work,”

According to a drama insider.

Meguro has also inherited such mentorship. His current health issues are due to “overexertion,” and he actually feels sorry for the staff he may have inconvenienced.

With Kimura, who once stood at the pinnacle of male idols, and Meguro, who is set to rise in the future, this period of inactivity will surely become a valuable experience for him.
