Suspects in Girl Abduction Case Offer Shocking Justifications Claiming Kindness Could Lead to Dating
The man who appeared from the police station for his transfer was astonished by the large number of reporters. He is a member of a male idol group, arrested for committing lewd acts on an unfamiliar woman.
On August 20, the North Kawazawa Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested 30-year-old singer Seigo Kanamori, who lives in Setagaya, Tokyo, on suspicion of non-consensual lewd acts. He is accused of forcibly touching the body of a teenage woman, A, whom he did not know, on the street.
“The incident for which the suspect was arrested occurred on the night of June 30. After 1 a.m., Kanamori is said to have persistently asked A, who was walking alone in a residential area near his home, ‘Are you going home?’ on an empty street. He then reportedly attacked A and reached into her skirt. He is said to have groped her buttocks and touched her breasts over her clothes.
When A screamed and resisted vigorously, Kanamori fled the scene. The mother of A, who reported the incident after returning home, consulted with police officers in a patrol car on duty. Kanamori’s crime was discovered through footage from nearby security cameras” (Reporter from a national newspaper’s social department).

Kanamori is a member of the male idol group ‘gatagata.’
“‘gatagata.’ started its full-scale activities in November 2023. The group, consisting of four members, claims to be a ‘demonic revolutionary group.’ They perform live primarily at event venues in Shibuya and Ikebukuro and stream videos on YouTube. The group is known for its distinctive makeup” (Employee of a major record company).
Immediately after the incident on the 21st, ‘gatagata.’ released the following comment on their official X account.
“Through our lawyer, we are working to understand the situation, but since we cannot decide the group’s policy or response at this stage, we will announce any information as it becomes available on this account” (original text as is).
Kanamori is reportedly denying the charges with the following surprising claim:
“I only zipped up the woman’s skirt. I did not touch her body.”
The police are continuing their investigation to determine if Kanamori has any other offenses.
