An Actress with a World-Class Actress
On February 7 (local time), the “Critics Circle Awards” (CCA) was held in California, the United States. At this prestigious award, which is considered a prelude to the Academy Awards, actress Moeka Hoshi (29) won the Best Supporting Actress award.
The CCA, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, is a major awards race along with the Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards. The drama “SHOGUN Shogun,” in which Hoshi appeared, won a record 18 Emmy Awards in the drama category and four Golden Globe Awards.
At the CCAs, Hoshi beat out big-name Hollywood actresses such as Nicole Kidman (57) to win the award for Best Supporting Actress.
In 2004, Hoshi won the grand prix at “Miss iD 2016,” and in 2005, she made her drama debut in “One Million Yen Women” (TV Tokyo). In the January season of this year, she appeared in the dramas “TRUE COLORS” (NHK) and “Supper Blues” (TV Tokyo). In “Shogun Shogun,” she played the role of the wife of John Blackthorne (Anjin Miura), an English mariner who drifted ashore in Japan, and made her name known both in Japan and abroad.
It was in mid-January that FRIDAY Digital spotted Hoshi, who is active on the world stage.
