What is the existence of “Kikeroga” and “Tominomemo” in the movie “Mobile Suit Gundam Siege Axe”?
The inevitability of the name “Kiceroga” instead of “Bla Bla Bla Bla.
Kicheroga?
The name astonished me.
The movie “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuuX-Beginning” was released in January and is still recording strong box-office results.
The film is the first series co-production between Studio Color, known for its “Evangelion” series, and Sunrise, the production company behind the “Gundam” series.
It is needless to say that the response from the deep audience, who are amazed by the various gimmicks and stories, as well as those who are experiencing the Gundam series for the first time through this work and going back to the history, continues to grow.

The following contains spoilers.
The “Red Comet” Char Aznable makes an appearance in this work, and although he appeared in only one episode of the TV animation “Mobile Suit Gundam” (the so-called “First Gundam”) broadcast from 1979, he later appeared in a later episode of the theater series “The Red Comet” (the “First Gundam”). The appearance of Shariah Bull, a character who appeared only in one episode of the TV anime “Mobile Suit Gundam” broadcast in 1979 but was later cut from the movie version, as a “good-looking man” was also a major topic of conversation.
In “Siege Axe,” a machine that looks like the mobile armor “Blau Blau Blau” that Shariah Bull rode in the first episode appears in a scene in which the two aircraft play an active role in a pair of tactics called “M.A.V. (Mav)” in the movie together with Shia’s “Red Gundam. While watching the movie, I was excited, “Oh, there’s a Blau Blau Blau!” But I was shocked to learn that the name of this aircraft was not “Blau Blau Blau” but “Kiceroga,” as I mentioned at the beginning of this article.
The aircraft named “Kiceroga” did not appear in either the TV version or the movie version of the “First” series.
The existence of a plot left behind by Yoshiyuki Tomino (then Yoshiyuki Yoshino), the general director of the TV version of “Mobile Suit Gundam,” that was never actually produced or broadcast, known as the “Tominomemo,” is a well-known episode among some fans. The name “Kikeroga” is mentioned in it.
It is well known that the TV version of the first Gundam was originally scheduled to be 52 episodes, but was shortened to 43 episodes when it was decided to discontinue airing. Naturally, there are many episodes that could not be included in the original 52 episodes.
The name “Kiceroga” is also mentioned in the draft left behind in the “Tomino Memo. The Kiceroga was the aircraft that Char was to fly, and it was planned to play an active role together with the mobile armor that Raraa Soon was to fly. Incidentally, the “Tomino Memo” did not include a rough design of the Kiceroga, but it was redesigned and appeared as a Newtype-only mobile suit in a Gundam series game released later in the year. However, this is a different machine with the same name as the KIKEROGA.
The surprise at the unexpected appearance of “Kikeroga,” and the convincing play of the hidden settings that were unearthed by those in the know, reminded me of “Zofi,” the messenger of the star of light who appeared in the movie “Shin Ultraman,” released in 2010. The original TV version of “Ultraman” was also a great success. The original “Zofi” appeared in the last episode of the TV version of “Ultraman”, not “Zofi”. This was the name that appeared in a children’s magazine at the time of the broadcast, when he was introduced as an alien who controlled the space dinosaur Zetton.
In fact, Zofi uses Zetton in “Shin Ultraman,” and fans who knew about it were astonished at Hideaki Anno’s ability to include such a maniacal story. I felt that Shariah Bull’s activities and the appearance of Kikeroga were very similar to this.
The more intense the mania, the happier you will be? The first half of “Siege Axe” is full of fun and tricks.
According to “Tomino’s Memo,” there are a lot of things that would have been depicted in “Siege Axe” had it not been censored, such as the activities of the Newtype Unit led by Shariah Bull, the phantom mobile suits that Shia changes from one to another, and Lala’s Hermes, which hides underground in Granada and launches a long-range attack. The “Siege Axe” is a story about the “Siege Axe” and the “Siege Axe” is a story about the “Siege Axe” and the “Siege Axe”. It can be said that “Siege Axe” is an adaptation by Studio Color of the Tomino Memo, which was never made into a film, and that it incorporates elements of new interpretations.
Furthermore, in the novel version of “Mobile Suit Gundam,” also by director Tomino, Shariah Bull appears in a more important position than in the TV version and plays an active role as Shia’s right hand man. These elements may also have influenced the character of Shariah Bull in the “Siege Axe” version.
As such, based on the elements mentioned in the Tomino Memo, the phenomenon of the ever-expanding discussion of mysteries that have yet to be completely revealed, such as whether this was not the case, or whether this is what will happen in the future, continues to roll on and on.
Of course, the appeal of “Siege Axe” is not limited to such overly maniacal elements. Even old fans who are relatively light on the subject would have leaned forward and looked up from the very beginning of the film.
The mono eye of the mobile suit “Zaku” in a large shot, the startup sound like a “gupon,” the narration starting with “Space Century 0079,” the colony drop, and the sound effects when the subtitle of the TV version is shown…. …… Many fans of the time must have been grabbed by the descriptions that appeared right from the start, which many of them have probably seen dozens of times and imprinted on their minds.
This coincided with the opening of “Shin Ultraman,” which quoted the opening eye-catcher from the beginning of “Ultraman” at the time, and the background music from “Ultra Q” and a monster based on the original appeared one after another, and similarly grabbed the hearts of old fans in seconds, and was used by the studio. The film was a color work, and it gave the impression that it was a “Shin Mobile Suit Gundam” (the same technique was used in “Shin Kamen Rider”).
(The same technique was used in “Shin Kamen Rider.”) Of course, there have been many remakes of famous scenes from the “first” series using advanced computer graphics and other techniques in later game productions. However, “Siege Axe” is completely different from remakes of the “first” film. From the very beginning, the history of “Siege Axe” is greatly diverged and rewritten.
At the beginning of the “First” movie, three ZAKU invade the space colony “Side 7,” and among them there is a red ZAKU, so-called “Char’s exclusive ZAKU,” which is already a major turning point in history (in the TV version, Char is on the battleship (In the TV version, Char is watching the situation from the bridge of the Musai). Ahead of the others, Char discovers the Gundam, a prototype mobile suit that was being developed by the Earth Federation Forces.
As everyone knows, in the original, Amuro Ray, the main character, is supposed to board the Gundam, but in this film, Amuro does not appear, and Char seizes the Gundam, which is a shocking turn of events. In this scene, too, the main character is replaced by Char, and the familiar scene is plunged into an “if” world, even though it is cut in the same way as in the original.
Is it similar to the feeling you had with Eva? Enjoying “if” in a reset world line
Char operates in the cockpit, the Gundam’s main camera glows, and it stands up as it exhausts from its chest. Just as I saw it back then, “Gundam, standing on the earth!” . However, it was Char who made it stand up! With this, the world line of “Amuro fighting in the Gundam”, the most fundamental part of the world line, disappears. It was chaos.
There is an energy gain of more than five times that of Zaku. ……
Amuro’s line, and Chara saying it as it is, is a direction that makes my brain bug out, but also makes me excited by the impossible “if”. In addition, the Gundam in which Char rides shows the same brilliant kick that Char’s Zaku performed in the TV version. ……
Due to the divergence of histories, there are characters and mobile suits that no longer appear in the series (at this time), and characters whose fates, including life and death, have changed drastically. The course of the war will also be very different. This is the “First Gundam” that everyone should know, but no one does.
It was like going to see “Siege Axe,” the latest Gundam movie produced by Studio Color, and then “Shin Mobile Suit Gundam” started.
Also new this time was the “Rose of Sharon,” which was uttered by Xillia Zabi. It seems to be an important item, but was said to have disappeared at some point. This phrase also appears in the Old Testament, and its allusion is reminiscent of the worldview of “Eva”.
If it were a super-technological item or living organism, and the development of various weapons and mobile suits were based on it, the “psycho-mu,” a device used to amplify newtype abilities mounted on the Gundam, would be based on the …… Eva-like perspective The consideration (or is it more of a delusion?) of the “Evangelion” series has not ceased to progress.
Come to think of it, the world depicted in the Evangelion series also evokes a resetting of the world line. From the moment Char infiltrated Side 7, “Mobile Suit Gundam” as we know it must have been reset in the same way and entered a new world line.
After the first half of the film, which is a dense adaptation of the world of the first series and includes “ifs,” the main character of the film, Amate Yuzuriha a.k.a. “Machu,” is now in the world set in the year 0085 of the Space Century, the main story of Siege Axe, in this time period we all know and love. The worldview is not the one we know, but because the “if” has passed, we can naturally immerse ourselves in the new worldline, even though the characters and the modern cityscape are completely different (Incidentally, the TV sequel “Mobile Suit Z Gundam” is set in 0087, while the worldview depicted in Siege Axe is the same as that of the first and the Z Gundam series. (Incidentally, the TV sequel “Mobile Suit Z Gundam” takes place in 0087, which corresponds to the period between the first and Z Gundams).
) The story includes the connection between the world centered on Machu and the contents depicted in the first half of this work, the identity of the “sight” and “voice” that Char saw at that time, the mystery hidden in the Siege Axe that Machu boarded, and the existence of the halo that Amuro was supposed to have created in the first film. This work is awaited to be broadcast on TV from April, while containing a lot of mysteries.
I will be watching it several times, watching the first Gundam, and reviewing the novels, etc., and maybe Amuro and Bright will appear in it? What will happen to Char?
The fantasies never cease.
