What is the existence of “Kikeroga” and “Tominomemo” in the movie “Mobile Suit Gundam Siege Axe”?
The more intense the mania, the happier you will be? The first half of “Siege Axe” is full of fun and tricks.
According to “Tomino’s Memo,” there are a lot of things that would have been depicted in “Siege Axe” had it not been censored, such as the activities of the Newtype Unit led by Shariah Bull, the phantom mobile suits that Shia changes from one to another, and Lala’s Hermes, which hides underground in Granada and launches a long-range attack. The “Siege Axe” is a story about the “Siege Axe” and the “Siege Axe” is a story about the “Siege Axe” and the “Siege Axe”. It can be said that “Siege Axe” is an adaptation by Studio Color of the Tomino Memo, which was never made into a film, and that it incorporates elements of new interpretations.
Furthermore, in the novel version of “Mobile Suit Gundam,” also by director Tomino, Shariah Bull appears in a more important position than in the TV version and plays an active role as Shia’s right hand man. These elements may also have influenced the character of Shariah Bull in the “Siege Axe” version.
As such, based on the elements mentioned in the Tomino Memo, the phenomenon of the ever-expanding discussion of mysteries that have yet to be completely revealed, such as whether this was not the case, or whether this is what will happen in the future, continues to roll on and on.
Of course, the appeal of “Siege Axe” is not limited to such overly maniacal elements. Even old fans who are relatively light on the subject would have leaned forward and looked up from the very beginning of the film.
The mono eye of the mobile suit “Zaku” in a large shot, the startup sound like a “gupon,” the narration starting with “Space Century 0079,” the colony drop, and the sound effects when the subtitle of the TV version is shown…. …… Many fans of the time must have been grabbed by the descriptions that appeared right from the start, which many of them have probably seen dozens of times and imprinted on their minds.
This coincided with the opening of “Shin Ultraman,” which quoted the opening eye-catcher from the beginning of “Ultraman” at the time, and the background music from “Ultra Q” and a monster based on the original appeared one after another, and similarly grabbed the hearts of old fans in seconds, and was used by the studio. The film was a color work, and it gave the impression that it was a “Shin Mobile Suit Gundam” (the same technique was used in “Shin Kamen Rider”).
(The same technique was used in “Shin Kamen Rider.”) Of course, there have been many remakes of famous scenes from the “first” series using advanced computer graphics and other techniques in later game productions. However, “Siege Axe” is completely different from remakes of the “first” film. From the very beginning, the history of “Siege Axe” is greatly diverged and rewritten.
At the beginning of the “First” movie, three ZAKU invade the space colony “Side 7,” and among them there is a red ZAKU, so-called “Char’s exclusive ZAKU,” which is already a major turning point in history (in the TV version, Char is on the battleship (In the TV version, Char is watching the situation from the bridge of the Musai). Ahead of the others, Char discovers the Gundam, a prototype mobile suit that was being developed by the Earth Federation Forces.
As everyone knows, in the original, Amuro Ray, the main character, is supposed to board the Gundam, but in this film, Amuro does not appear, and Char seizes the Gundam, which is a shocking turn of events. In this scene, too, the main character is replaced by Char, and the familiar scene is plunged into an “if” world, even though it is cut in the same way as in the original.
