Fuwa-chan Faces Online Criticism Following iPhone Exposure and Controversial Comments
“My name is Fuwa-chan. I use Google Pixel.”
This was the catchphrase she used in a Google Pixel smartphone commercial while she was still appearing in it before being “fired” over the outburst incident directed at comedian Yasuko.
Fuwa-chan wrote on X, “Please die,” directed at Yasuko, and although she later deleted it, the situation became irreparable, leading to the removal of the Google Pixel commercial. Google responded to Friday Digital’s inquiry:
“Google has a strict policy regarding actions that do not respect others. We have decided to suspend the advertising and promotional materials for Google Pixel featuring the relevant talent. Regarding contractual matters, we will make appropriate decisions in accordance with Google’s policies going forward.”
Google responded.
Fuwa-chan, who was supposed to be promoting as an image character, has undoubtedly caused trouble for Google due to her outburst. The situation, given the substantial amount of money she received for the commercial appearance, can be seen as an act of betrayal. There is also a high possibility of a breach of contract penalty.
However, Fuwa-chan’s acts of betrayal did not stop there.
“On X, a user posted a screenshot of Fuwa-chan’s post, discovering that it displayed ‘Twitter for iPhone.’ This was a feature that used to be included, which showed from which device the post was made.
Although this feature has recently been removed, it turns out that by using Google’s extension tool, it is still possible to display this information. By using this tool to look back at past posts, it was revealed that most were made from an iPhone,” says an IT journalist.
The interview team also installed the tool and checked it out,
“I am truly sorry. This is not something I should be reporting to everyone here, but I said something I shouldn’t have and hurt someone. I will apologize directly to the person involved.”
