Huwa-chan announces a hiatus from performing. What is the impact of a single “flame war”? ……

“My name is Fuwa-chan. I use Google Pixel.”

This was the catchphrase she used in a Google Pixel smartphone commercial while she was still appearing in it before being “fired” over the outburst incident directed at comedian Yasuko.

Fuwa-chan wrote on X, “Please die,” directed at Yasuko, and although she later deleted it, the situation became irreparable, leading to the removal of the Google Pixel commercial. Google responded to Friday Digital’s inquiry:

“Google has a strict policy regarding actions that do not respect others. We have decided to suspend the advertising and promotional materials for Google Pixel featuring the relevant talent. Regarding contractual matters, we will make appropriate decisions in accordance with Google’s policies going forward.”

Google responded.

Fuwa-chan, who was supposed to be promoting as an image character, has undoubtedly caused trouble for Google due to her outburst. The situation, given the substantial amount of money she received for the commercial appearance, can be seen as an act of betrayal. There is also a high possibility of a breach of contract penalty.

However, Fuwa-chan’s acts of betrayal did not stop there.

“On X, a user posted a screenshot of Fuwa-chan’s post, discovering that it displayed ‘Twitter for iPhone.’ This was a feature that used to be included, which showed from which device the post was made.

Although this feature has recently been removed, it turns out that by using Google’s extension tool, it is still possible to display this information. By using this tool to look back at past posts, it was revealed that most were made from an iPhone,” says an IT journalist.

The interview team also installed the tool and checked it out,

“I am truly sorry. This is not something I should be reporting to everyone here, but I said something I shouldn’t have and hurt someone. I will apologize directly to the person involved.”

It has been confirmed that the post from the 4th was also made from an iPhone.

However, perhaps because it was recently discovered that she was using an iPhone on X, the post claiming she apologized directly to Yasuko is displayed as ‘Twitter for Android.’ Google Pixel is an Android device.

By the way, Fuwa-chan posted on X on April 6th of this year:

“My name is Fuwa-chan!!! I use a Google Pixel!!!!!!! It’s really me!!!!!!!!!!”

And she posted:

On July 22nd:

“I gave the uncles an eraser magic trick, and they were really excited.”

She also posted a photo of Sandwich Man’s Mikio Date erased, but astonishingly, this is also marked as ‘Twitter for iPhone,’ indicating that this post might have actually been made using an iPhone. Even with an iPhone, tools like the eraser magic trick can be used with apps such as Google Photos.

“I don’t think there are many contracts that require you to use the product you appear in commercials for. For example, even if a super popular actor appears in a commercial for a compact car, they might drive a foreign car in their private life. However, since this incident led to the termination of the commercial, it might have looked even more like she paid back a favor with malice,” says a TV station insider.

In this outburst controversy, Fuwa-chan’s past actions and statements are being revisited.

“It has been revealed that three years ago, Fuwa-chan posted an up-close image of Yasuko’s face for promotional purposes on X with the comment ‘Yasuko’s face looked like this lol,’ making fun of it.

Furthermore, in February of this year, when Fuwa-chan had a conversation with Yasuko, she was apparently irritated with the response and posted on X, ‘Isn’t that person seriously only having conversations with flow??’ This has led to increased criticism online, with people saying things like ‘You’ve always been mocking Yasuko, haven’t you?'” says a sports newspaper reporter.

Additionally, not only Fuwa-chan’s behavior toward Yasuko but also the criticism from May by the comedy trio Nelson’s Aoyama Fall Katsu, who pointed out Fuwa-chan’s bad manners on an airplane in a video channel, has also been re-highlighted.

“One characteristic of today’s social media is that a single scandal can lead to past problematic statements and actions being revisited one after another, causing the controversy to escalate further. In the past, researching past statements required significant effort, such as re-watching VTRs or going to libraries.

Now, however, a quick search will immediately bring up past statements, and quoting them in posts leads to rapid spread. Fuwa-chan’s situation is a prime example of this focused attack in the internet age,” says the previously mentioned IT journalist.

Although Fuwa-chan has apologized directly to Yasuko, she announced a hiatus from her entertainment activities on the 11th. It remains to be seen when she will return to the public stage.
