The Met Gala 2021 was held on Monday, September 13 (local time) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, USA.

The Met Gala is held every year on the first Monday in May, but due to the new coronavirus, it was cancelled last year and postponed again this May 2021. It has been about a year and five months since the last Met Gala, and the scale of the event has been scaled down from usual.

The Met Gala is a fund-raising party for the Costume Institute, and it also serves as the unveiling of the exhibition theme, which changes every year, and for 2021, the theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. For 2021, the theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” Attendees will come to the show with their own interpretation and expression of this theme.

It’s not uncommon to see outlandish and incomprehensible outfits at this event, so let’s take a look at some of the people who made headlines this year.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is undoubtedly the most talked about model at the Met Gala. Even though she was wearing jet black, her hourglass figure made it easy to recognize her. And it was designed by Kanye West (and Balenciaga designer Demna Vazalia), who are currently in the middle of a divorce. The mysterious man who escorted Kim in the mask was not Kanye, but Demna.

While this outfit was interesting, some people said it was “insensitive” and “uncomfortable” because it was at a time when Afghan female students were ordered to wear abaya and niqab.
By the way, model Irina Shayk, who dated Kanye in early summer, drew attention with her see-through dress this time, but if the timing was not right, she might have been made to wear black …….

Naomi Osaka

For her first appearance at the Met Gala, tennis player Naomi Osaka played a major role as co-host with singer Billie Eilish, actor Timothée Chalamet, and poet Amanda Gorman. The dress, created by her sister and designer Mari Osaka and Louis Vuitton, features a design that incorporates the cultures of their Haitian and Japanese roots. “The dress was designed by her sister and designer Mari Osaka and Louis Vuitton.

Cara Delevingne

“PEG THE PATRIARCHY” is a slogan that means “dismantle the patriarchy. The phrase was invented by Luna Matatus, who lives in Canada, and was found to have been used without permission. There were also some negative reactions, such as “I don’t want Kara, who has aristocratic blood, to talk about the patriarchy.

At this year’s Met Gala, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for “Tax the Rich,” and Carolyn Maloney, another Congresswoman, called for “Equal rights for women. However, some people were disappointed and said, “I agree with your opinion, but I don’t want to hear it at an event for rich people only.

The difference in temperature was quite shocking, since Kara’s and other costumes with the message were very well received in Japan. ……

Dressed in a cartoon-like costume with a big sword, shiny books, and a metallic mask is musician Grimes. The original story is from the new movie “Dune: Planet of the Sands. His partner and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, did not attend the event.

Hunter, who got his big break playing a transgender high school student in the drama “Euphoria,” wore a 1999 Prada-inspired look. The look was created by stylist Ro Roach, whose clients include popular fashion icons like Zendaya and Anja Taylor-Joy.

With Naomi Osaka as one of the co-hosts, the Met Gala was no stranger to big-name tennis players, and Sharapova, in her third appearance, showed off her dignity in a golden Gabriella Hearst dress.

Frank Ocean

Artist Frank Ocean was accompanied by “Cody,” an eerily moving robot baby who blinked and tilted his head.

“Actor Timothy Sharame wore a “Haider Ackermann” set-up to make Chuck Taylor of Converse the star of the show. At this year’s Met Gala, three of his past ex-girlfriends, Lily-Rose Depp, Eiza Gonzalez and Lourdes Leon, were in attendance, a rare occurrence ……!

The singer Rihanna, who has created some of the most memorable looks in Met Gala history, wore Balenciaga. But she made a surprise appearance with her boyfriend, rapper Aesop Rocky. She wore a quilted gown with a pair of silhouettes that subtly linked with his.

The rapper showed three different looks, from a gold gown to armor to a glittery body suit, all in “Berserch”. For his first time at the event, he succeeded in leaving a big mark!

Next year’s event, 2022, will be held in May as usual. The theme for next year’s event is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” which will be the second part of the 2021 theme. I look forward to the return of the Met Gala regulars who did not attend this year, such as Lady Gaga, Zendaya and Lily Collins.
