The blame game has begun for the failed operation. Colleagues from the former Soviet Union's "KGB," a top Russian military officer who has disappeared, and an upstart oligarch conglomerate. ......

In 2002, Shoigu and Bortnikov toured the Crimean Peninsula with President Putin. They have supported Putin since the early days of his regime, but are they plotting a rebellion?

The world is watching these two men flanked by President Vladimir Putin, 69 (photo). On the right is Alexander Bortnikov, 70, a colleague from his days in the KGB, the former Soviet Union’s secret police, and head of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service). On the left is Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, 66, the top military officer. These two men are close associates who are believed to be plotting a coup d’etat.

Andrei Soldatov, an investigative journalist who monitors Russia’s intelligence activities, said, “The two men are close associates who are believed to be plotting a coup d’etat.”

The coup is being led by none other than Shoigu,” said Andrei Soldatov, an investigative journalist who monitors Russian intelligence. He disappeared for a while, but has recently returned. And now the biggest threat to Putin is the FSB. In fact, the organization has been leaking information and giving Putin false information about the war. Some of them have been purged, but there is a strong possibility that Shoigu will take in Bortnikov, who controls domestic intelligence.

A desk clerk in the international section of a national newspaper continues.

“The FSB and the SVR (Russian Foreign Intelligence Service) are powerful intelligence organizations alongside the FSB and the SVR. GRU (General Directorate of Intelligence of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). It is under the direct control of Shoigu, and unlike the two previous organizations, it is not obligated to report to Putin and is unreachable. Shoigu is believed to have already sent GRU agents to Putin’s vicinity.

Oligarchs, an emerging conglomerate with a strong political voice, are also on the move. Itsuro Nakamura, a professor at Tsukuba Gakuin University and an expert on Russian politics, said, “The oligarchs are also making moves.”

Rusal, Russia’s largest aluminum producer, declared its opposition to the war, which triggered a growing anti-Putin movement. I think Igor Sechin, 61, president of Rosneft, the largest oil company in Russia, will be the next leader. He is one of my closest aides, along with Oleg Deripaska (54), the owner of Rusal. He is someone even Putin cannot comment on.

He has supported Putin’s personal life and political activities since the ’80s, so he holds all Putin’s secrets. The Russian economy has been devastated by Western sanctions. The military and the ‘FSB’ have no money. Currently, only Putin has the skills to rebuild the economy. He has the connections and the negotiating cards with the West to get the economic sanctions lifted, so Bortnikov and Shoigu have no choice but to follow Sechin’s lead.

Regardless of who comes to power, what is required is a ceasefire as soon as possible.
