A rekindled romance that led her favorite person to victory

The power of a goddess of victory was tremendous.

Masashi Kumura (27), who had been away from the winner’s circle for nearly two years, competed in the “RISE WORLD SERIES 2026” on June 6. In his first fight since August of last year, he scored a first-round knockout victory and became emotional as he said, “There were times when I thought about quitting, but thanks to everyone who has supported me, I was able to make it back here.”

The person he most wanted to thank was surely Yuuchami, whose real name is Yuna Furukawa (24). Since becoming K-1’s official supporting cheerleader in 2022, she supported Kumura both personally and professionally, including visiting his home and cooking for him. He eventually rose to become one of the sport’s leading prospects. However, the two broke up in early summer 2024, and Kumura’s winning streak also came to an end.

“I heard they separated because they were thinking about the futures of these two young prospects but Yuuchami was really depressed.” (Entertainment agency executive)

But then—she returned to the side of her favorite person, who was struggling. In January this year, “FRIDAY” reported seeing Yuuchami visiting Kumura’s home. At times, she would rush over by taxi as many as three times a week, then head back to work by taxi again while rubbing her sleepy eyes—a level of devotion that was hard not to admire.

“Mental strength is also important in combat sports. She’s always energetic, so I get a good mindset from her.”

Kumura once told “FRIDAY” this. He surely won’t let go of his goddess of victory again.
