Glamorous Gyaru Mom Arrested in Husband’s Stabbing—Disturbing Gap Between Social Media Image and Reality

Records of a happy family left on social media
On March 30, the Chiba Central Police Station arrested Mami Kurokawa (27) on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife at a housing complex in Murata-cho, Chuo Ward, Chiba City. Her husband, Naoki Kurokawa (28), was later confirmed dead at the hospital to which he was transported, and the police have since upgraded the charge to murder and are continuing their investigation.
In this case, which took an unusual turn in which the suspect left the scene with their young son and returned home by taxi just four hours later before being arrested, Naoki Kurokawa’s social media account contained a record of a seemingly happy family life—from dating to marriage and childbirth—contrasting sharply with the tragic outcome.
The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on March 29. Immediately after Naoki’s younger sister made an emergency 110 call saying, “My sister-in-law stabbed my brother,” Mami left the scene, leaving the knife used in the crime inside the room. As police cars and unmarked vehicles searched the area in a tense operation, the situation took a sudden turn at 1:22 a.m. on March 30.
A taxi stopped in front of the apartment. The person who got out was Mami, wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt and white long pants matching the description given in the report. She was holding a young son, estimated to be about two years old, in her arms.
An investigative source explained the moment as follows:
“She matched the description, and since she responded to questioning, she was placed under emergency arrest inside the patrol car. She admitted, ‘I stabbed him.’”
Regarding why she left the scene after the incident, Mami stated:
“I wanted to calm down.”
During police questioning, she said, “We argued about living expenses and I stabbed him,” but Naoki Kurokawa’s Instagram account appears to show a series of happy memories that seem far removed from marital discord.
From late 2022, posts emphasizing the couple’s closeness began appearing. On New Year’s Day 2023, Naoki posted a photo of Mami along with the message:
“Let’s get along again this year. I love you so much (original spelling preserved).”
After that, they frequently shared trips to Atami and Hakkeijima Sea Paradise with hashtags such as #alwayshappy and #everydayhappy. On their anniversary in May of the same year, he posted a photo from a yakiniku restaurant, writing:
“Let’s keep getting along, Mami.”
—using an affectionate nickname for her.
The husband did not help at all with childcare
Even the process of forming the family seemed smooth on social media. In October ’23, she posted an ultrasound image and handmade wedding rings, writing:
“Let’s continue to get along well as a couple♪”
On March 5, ’24, alongside a photo of Mami Kurokawa holding a newborn baby, he left messages:
“You both really did your best, thank you so much.”
“From now on, let’s live happily as a family of three plus one dog.”
He celebrated the new chapter of their lives.
However, reality was moving in a different direction from the glittering social media posts.
The trigger for the incident was, reportedly, Mami’s goodwill. While visiting her husband Naoki’s family home, she gave several tens of thousands of yen to his parents, thinking, “I want to help support our living expenses even a little,” which made Naoki furious, saying, “Who told you to do something like that?”
In addition to having her goodwill denied, Mami’s long-standing frustration that her husband did not help at all with childcare exploded, and in a fit of anger she reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife.
A female local resident testified about the horrific scene that night:
“It was around 9:50 p.m. I was watching a Sunday drama on TV when I first heard a woman screaming. I saw her running while shouting, ‘What should I do,’ ‘Help me, help me.’ After that, the sirens got extremely loud, and dozens of police officers were running around.”
Another resident described Mami’s appearance:
“She gave off a ‘gyaru’-like impression, with flashy nails, piercings, and a visible tattoo on her back,” but also said, “She was someone who would properly greet people with good morning.”
The victim, Naoki Kurokawa, had just founded a construction company called “Kanzuka Kenken” in April ’25. A former junior high school classmate said:
“He was what you’d call a delinquent type, and everyone called him ‘Kuro.’ He had dyed hair and thin eyebrows, but he was kind. He wasn’t someone who bullied the weak—his personality was good.”
After graduating from a local junior high school, he went on to a high school in Chiba Prefecture but later dropped out. After that, he devoted himself to construction work and worked earnestly.
On the homepage of the company where Naoki served as president, the greeting section stated:
“All of our employees will work together and strive for growth.”
Chiba Prefectural Police are continuing a careful investigation in order to reconcile the contradiction between the happy scenes left on social media and the harsh reality of a trouble over living expenses that unfolded behind closed doors.
