‘Quit the company if you sleep in’…3 people allegedly lynched co-workers in a routine mass lynching of “39-year-old man dead in employee dormitory.”
The deceased man appears to have been subjected to a spectacular assault. The cause of death was hemorrhagic shock due to internal organ damage. Other signs of broken bones and multiple subcutaneous hemorrhages were also confirmed–.
On March 10, the Chiba Prefectural Police Investigation Division 1 arrested Toshiki Maeda, 34, the president of a civil engineering company, Hisashi Miyazono, 37, an employee, and Kohki Konishi, 23, all of whom are suspected of the murder of a 39-year-old male colleague. The scene of the incident was the location of an incident involving an employee of the company.
The scene of the incident was a room in an apartment building in Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, which was used as a dormitory for employees. According to the prefectural police, the three suspects apparently struck Ms. A in the back and other parts of her body.
After the assault, Mr. A began to act strangely, and one of the suspects called 119. The hospital where he was taken noticed that Mr. A was bleeding under the skin and provided information to the prefectural police, who discovered the incident. The prefectural police have not revealed the identities of the three suspects.
Beatings at a gym
This is not the first time the three suspects have been arrested. In February of this year, they were taken into police custody on other charges.
Maeda and Miyazono were arrested on February 18 of this year on suspicion of assault for striking Ms. A in the stomach and face at a gym in Nagareyama City on August 18, 2012. Prefectural police also arrested Konishi on the same day on suspicion of coercion. The police arrested Konishi on the same day on suspicion of coercion, and he is alleged to have threatened to quit the company if he overslept, and to have filmed a video of Mr. A saying, “I quit the company. The prefectural police believe that the three suspects may have been routinely assaulting Mr. A in a group.
Former Kanagawa Prefectural Police detective and crime journalist Taihei Ogawa said.
If the charges are true, I think it can be called a lynching. The victim was probably getting pleasure from bullying and assaulting his colleagues and using it as a way to relieve stress. The victim lived with the suspects not only at work but also in the company dormitory, so I think he was in a desperate state of mind with no way out. If true, this is an unforgivable crime against human dignity.
At the beginning of the assault, some of the suspects may have felt that it was a ‘bad idea. However, if only one person objected, he or she could become the target of the assault. As the suspects were assaulted on a daily basis, they gradually became numb to the situation and the assault escalated.”
The prefectural police are investigating the details of the incident to determine if there were any financial or other problems between the three suspects and Ms. A.
