[Joon] Images and performers are not the only attractions of commercials.
Sometimes the background music attracts viewers.
What commercial songs have made viewers stick with a commercial?
Here is a ranking based on an independent analysis by a specialist company.

No. 10 Mrs. GREEN APPLE “GOOD DAY” / Song used in a beer commercial. The photo below (from right) shows Ayase, Suzuki, Hamabe, and others performing. These three actors also appear in the music video for the same song.

A “steel plate” of commercial songs! Arrangement of a famous song

TV viewing data analysis company “REVISIO” (hereafter referred to as “R”) conducted an original analysis to score how much viewers paid attention to commercials with background music with lyrics that were first aired from January to November 2013.

The top 30 commercial songs with the highest score are ranked based on an average of 100. The results revealed a surprising fact hidden in a commercial that lasts only 30 seconds or so.

B’z, MISIA, Ieiri Leo… The latest CM songs that attract viewers “Nailed It” ranking.

One of the characteristics of commercial songs that attract attention is the arrangement of songs that everyone knows, and “Odoru Pompokolin,” the theme song for the “Chibi Maruko-chan” anime series, which ranked 8th, is a typical example.

The song is about a grown-up Maruko, played by Suzu Hirose (27), and her best friend Tama-chan, played by Sairi Ito (31), who meet again in New York and have a beer at a bar.

The setting itself is interesting, but the jazz music playing in the background, with lyrics from the second half of the commercial, is also interesting. …… This is the first time viewers can recognize the arrangement of “Odoru Pompokolin,” which adds to the excitement of the commercial.

No. 14 “Nanda Kanda” is another arrangement. The original was sung by Takashi Fujii (53), and many people are familiar with it; in the commercial, Yuri Anada (44), who plays the role of a mother singing the groovy “Nanda Kanda” at her front door to cheer up her daughter who is on her way to job hunting, is unexpectedly encouraging. Arrangements of famous songs are the top iron plate for nailed-on top spots.

In 2012, a coffee commercial featuring Yumi Kawai (25) as an idol singing Kyoko Koizumi’s (59) famous song “Nandatte Idol” became a hot topic,” says Koki Mitsuhashi, marketing team manager at Company R.

A trick that makes fans “want to see it again

Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “GOOD DAY,” which came in at No. 10, is also a grand collaboration project, says Sori Yasutake, R Corp.’s public relations and marketing manager.

The commercial is for a beer called ‘Killing Good Ale,’ and the cast includes Haruka Ayase (40), Ryohei Suzuki (42), Minami Hamabe (25), and Motoki Omori (29), who is a member of Mrs.’s. The background music is ‘GOOD DAY. In addition, the background music, “GOOD DAY,” is a famous song that was sung as the last song of the white group in the “NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen” in 1925. Naturally, the level of attention to this song was high.

It is not only the gorgeous commercials that draw attention to this song. The music video also features Ms. Ayase, Mr. Suzuki, and Ms. Hamabe. For fans of “Mrs.,” this is a familiar commercial that will make them want to watch it again.

Entertainment journalist Yuka Sakaguchi, who is familiar with the advertising industry, explains.

I think most people today are tired of the overload of information that comes from social networking sites and online news. Many of the top-ranked commercials have little explanation or narration. Viewers are probably weaving their own stories freely from comfortable music and images. Perhaps commercials with a high degree of nail-biting have a leeway that the Internet society does not have.

The commercials that capture the viewer’s thoughts and feelings through music, in a time span of only 30 seconds at the most, are winning the hearts and minds of viewers.
