Momoko Tanabe Brings Idol Energy to the Set in Stylish Mini Skirt Outfit
Wearing a cute miniskirt
A cream-colored shirt with a frilly ultra-miniskirt and white sneakers. Sitting on a planter in an idol-style outfit, showing off her white teeth, is actress Momoko Tanabe (26). She is surrounded by a large number of staff members, chatting and laughing.
This is a scene from the filming of Oshi no Satsujin (The Murder of My Oshi), a drama starring Tanabe that began airing on October 2 on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV.
“This work is based on the novel of the same name by Kataru Endo, which won the 22nd Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! Bunko Award. The story follows Rui Takamiya (played by Tanabe), Teruma Hayakawa (played by Mayuu Yokota, 26), and Izumi Sawakita (played by Meari Hayashi, 19) — three members of the underground idol group Baby★Starlight. After the trio accidentally kills their agency president, they swear to hide the crime and continue performing on stage. However, they soon become entangled in a series of unsolved serial murders” (TV magazine writer)
Tanabe first gained public recognition as an actress in the April 2021 drama Rikokatsu (Nippon TV). She played a woman who tries to steal away her boss from his wife, and the scene where she brought “chikuzen-ni” (simmered chicken and vegetables) to the boss’s wife, who was bad at cooking, became a hot topic. The term “Chikuzen-ni woman” even trended on Twitter (now X).
In Koi Desu! Yankee-kun to Hakujou Girl (Nippon TV, 2021), she portrayed a visually impaired woman, and in Yugure ni, Te wo Tsunagu (TBS, 2023), she played a mysterious beauty with a beautiful singing voice. She is an actress who leaves a strong impression on viewers through her powerful acting and distinctive roles.
In her current role, Tanabe takes on the difficult challenge of portraying an idol who has committed murder. Only two episodes have aired so far, yet social media is already filled with praise such as, “Tanabe’s acting is incredible!” and “The power in her eyes is so convincing.”
Filming took place in early October near Kokusai-Tenjijo-Mae Station in Ariake, Koto Ward, Tokyo. Dressed in a miniskirt that revealed her thighs, Tanabe perfectly embodied the atmosphere of an underground idol and looked adorable.
However, around the planter block where she was sitting, there was scattered trash such as alcohol containers and cup noodles. She seemed to be chatting with a man sitting next to her. After the director called cut, many staff members surrounded her, leading into the opening scene described above.
In an interview with non-no (published October 2, 2025), Tanabe spoke about what she paid attention to when playing the role:
“She doesn’t often express her emotions outwardly, but I think there’s a whirlwind of feelings inside her. It’s difficult to figure out how to deliver to others what she truly wants to convey using carefully chosen words. I’m exploring different ways to express her emotions as I act.”
This truly shows the essence of Tanabe’s acting prowess.
