Mimi Furukawa of Dempagumi.inc Overcame the Wall After Gaining 20 kg and Giving Birth

The idol group Dempagumi.inc will be concluding its activities in January next year. Furukawa Mirin, who has led the group since its formation in 2009, is taking on her first-ever sexy gravure shoot. She announced her marriage to manga artist Shuichi Asou in 2019 and gave birth to her first child in 2021. The “Mirin-chan” who has broken the norms of the idol world is now unexpectedly achieving a milestone.
Currently, there is an early release available on the FRIDAY subscription service. The photographer for this shoot is Maki Taguchi, who has photographed the group’s early works, including the jacket for their 5th single, “Kira Kira Tune.”

My hips can still do it!
“I’ve always had a complex about my butt. I used to think, ‘If it were a little more perky’ and I had all sorts of thoughts. I was still anxious today thinking, ‘My butt is not that great.'”
What dispelled her anxiety was a thong!
“There was a bold outfit, like a red thong, during the shoot. At first, I was like, ‘Whoa!’ and surprised, but when we actually shot it, they took such beautiful pictures. I thought, ‘My butt can still do it! I can still show it off!’ (laughs)”
I’m glad I was able to take on the gravure challenge.
Through the experience of gravure shooting, her anxiety turned into confidence.
“The most discouraged I’ve been recently was when my body shape didn’t return after giving birth. I gained 20 kilograms, and it didn’t come off at all. When I wore the Denpa outfits and could see my body line, the difference from my previous self was too big. There was a time when I didn’t want to wear costumes anymore, I didn’t want to be in front of people.
So, to be able to take pictures of my body now and feel confident is almost like a miracle. I’m really glad I took on the gravure.”
This shoot captured a different side of idol Furukawa Mirin.
“I absolutely want the people who support me to see it. I can imagine how wow! X (formerly Twitter) will explode (laughs). I think they’ll be really happy. Honestly, I’m not sure how people who don’t know me will see it but I hope many people will see it!”
Having done various achievements both as an idol and a mother, “Mirin-chan” challenged herself with her first full-on sexy gravure. She wants her supporters to witness this challenge.
