<h2> Disgusted with &#8220;the rails that have been laid down</h2>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> The defendant is sentenced to 14 years in prison.</span></p>
<p> On November 14, 2012, Nagata Nagumi Osada, 27, listened to Judge Hidenori Murohashi pronounce the sentence at the Tokyo District Court with a straight back, not even twitching.</p>
<p> Nagata sexually assaulted a total of seven children (A-G, in the order of indictment) at two day-care centers where he worked, and filmed himself with three more children, over a period of two years and three months from late September 2009 to December 2011. Nagata was charged with five counts of non-consensual sexual intercourse, violation of the Child Pornography Law, and other crimes.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> Nagata began working as a nursery school teacher in 2005, and in 2010 she began working at a daycare center where her father was the director. In addition, many of Nagata&#8217;s relatives are nursery school teachers, and there is also a relative who runs a different nursery school from his father&#8217;s. The prosecutor said, &#8216;So to speak, we are a family of nursery school teachers. Nagata was also supposed to take over her father&#8217;s nursery school, and she described her reason for becoming a nursery school teacher as &#8220;riding the rails that were laid out for me.</span></p>

<p> Nagata <span class="strongInContent">stated, &#8220;Ever since I can remember, all I could think about was becoming a nursery school teacher.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> He began collecting child pornography images and videos when he was in high school. Nearly 600 images of child pornography were seized from his computer, and nearly 2,000 images and 400 videos were seized from his iPhone data. The police interrogation revealed that his favorite items were those of pre-school children.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> However, Nagata himself said, &#8220;I only realized that I was a pedophile after I was arrested. In my memory, it was girls in junior high school that I liked to watch a lot. So I was not aware that I was a pedophile,&#8221; he said in court. He claimed that because he was unaware of his sexual preference, he did not consider it dangerous to become a child care worker.</span></p>

<p> It was in his fifth year of working as a childcare worker that defendant Nagata began to think that he wanted to do the same thing as in the child pornography video. It was during nap time when she saw G-chan&#8217;s sleeping pose overlap with the child pornography images.</p>
<p> He told the court about the first time he felt sexual desire for the preschooler in front of him.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> I had been collecting child pornography videos for a while, but I had always thought of them as something from a distant world. But when I saw the preschooler in front of me, I felt the same thing as in child pornography videos. That was a tremendous shock to me.&#8221;</span></p>

<p> After that, he continued to commit the crimes <span class="strongInContent">, saying, &#8220;Although I knew that I should not cause any more victims, my mind and body were facing the exact opposite direction, and I was losing control of myself.</span></p>
<p> He also stated that one of the reasons he could not stop himself from committing the crimes was the pressure he was under as a member of a &#8220;family of nursery school teachers.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> He said, &#8220;I always felt pressure to take over the day-care center, as the generational change was in the countdown stage. I couldn&#8217;t talk to anyone or go to the hospital, so I just kept working, helplessly.&#8221;</span></p>

<h2>Guilt-inducing tactics</h2>

<p> When he started working at a day-care center where his father was the director, he did not have a class as a homeroom teacher, so when he was alone watching over the naps, he took the children who were awake to a closet for the reason of paying attention to them, where he blindfolded them and committed the crime.</p>
<p> By cautioning her, he made the preschooler think that it was his fault for staying awake, and at the same time, he did not forget to tell her to keep her mouth shut by telling her not <span class="strongInContent">to tell anyone</span>.</p>
<p> As a result, seven preschoolers were sexually victimized until the crime was discovered by C&#8217;s testimony.</p>
<p> On the day of sentencing, defendant Nagata appeared in court wearing a black sweatshirt top and bottom with a shaved head.</p>

<p> In handing down the sentence, Judge Murohashi pointed out that <span class="strongInContent">&#8220;this is an extremely despicable crime that takes advantage of the fact that each victim is at an immature age, unable to understand or resist sexual intent,&#8221; and that &#8220;there is concern that the memory of the damage may have an adverse effect on their future healthy growth, etc., and needless to say, the consequences of the damage are great.</span> The <span class="strongInContent">defendant&#8217;s criminal responsibility is grave,&#8221; he</span> said, explaining the reason for his sentence.</p>
<p> After the court closed, Nagata slowly got up and walked back to the defendant&#8217;s seat.</p>
<p> In court, <span class="strongInContent">he said, &#8220;I am reading and studying books on sex addiction at the detention center.</span> I <span class="strongInContent">hope to eventually go to a hospital for treatment, and I have found two hospitals for that purpose.</span></p>
<p> However, in his opinion statement, the lawyer representing the guardian of one of the victims, G-chan, dismissed the <span class="strongInContent">defendant, saying, &#8220;The defendant created the victims because of his extremely ugly personality of treating children like tools, and it is definitely not because of his illness.</span></p>
<p> In the future, as he is incarcerated, will he be able to face his &#8220;sexual preference&#8221; and &#8220;hideous personality&#8221; and change even a little?</p>
