He began collecting child pornography images and videos when he was in high school. Nearly 600 images of child pornography were seized from his computer, and nearly 2,000 images and 400 videos were seized from his iPhone data. The police interrogation revealed that his favorite items were those of pre-school children.

However, Nagata himself said, “I only realized that I was a pedophile after I was arrested. In my memory, it was girls in junior high school that I liked to watch a lot. So I was not aware that I was a pedophile,” he said in court. He claimed that because he was unaware of his sexual preference, he did not consider it dangerous to become a child care worker.

Monologue about the reason for the crime

He said, “I always felt pressure to take over the day-care center, as the generational change was in the countdown stage. I couldn’t talk to anyone or go to the hospital, so I just kept working, helplessly.”

Guilt-inducing tactics

When he started working at a day-care center where his father was the director, he did not have a class as a homeroom teacher, so when he was alone watching over the naps, he took the children who were awake to a closet for the reason of paying attention to them, where he blindfolded them and committed the crime.

By cautioning her, he made the preschooler think that it was his fault for staying awake, and at the same time, he did not forget to tell her to keep her mouth shut by telling her not to tell anyone.
