The Suspect Who Stabbed a Female Bar Worker Multiple Times

“The manager is holding him down. Hurry up and come!”

The heartbreaking 110 emergency call came from a staff member at the girls’ bar early in the morning. When the police arrived, they saw a man being restrained inside the store. Nearby, a knife covered in blood was found.

On October 27, the Atago Police Station in Tokyo arrested 49-year-old Hiroyuki Chigira, a man from Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture, on suspicion of attempted murder. He allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old female employee in the neck and other areas with a 10 cm fruit knife at a girl’s bar near Shimbashi Station in Minato, Tokyo.

“The incident occurred just after 5:30 AM on the same day. The scene was a girl’s bar near JR Shimbashi Station. The victim, 18-year-old A, was serving Chigira one-on-one at the counter. Despite other customers being present, Chigira pulled out a knife from his bag and, after getting on top of A, began stabbing her repeatedly.

A co-worker called for help, and A was rushed to the hospital, unconscious, while receiving CPR. Sadly, about an hour later, she was confirmed dead. Numerous stab wounds were found on her body, and the cause of death was determined to be hemorrhagic shock. It is believed that Chigira had a strong intent to kill,” said a reporter from a national newspaper’s social affairs department.

He was targeting her.

Chigira, the suspect, arrived alone at the girls’ bar just after 11 p.m. the previous night, staying for over six hours.

“It seems that Chigira had become quite obsessed with A. According to his statement to the police, the two met through a dating app around June of this year. Chigira had been visiting the girls’ bar where A worked, coming as often as once a week from his home in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture.”

In his investigation, he admitted to the crime: “I brought the knife from home. I was the one who stabbed her. I was targeting A.” The police have now shifted the charge to murder and are continuing their investigation.

Our photographer captured images of Chigira being transferred after his arrest on October 28. He was seen staring at the media with a shocking expression through his long hair.

What kind of trouble occurred between the two? It is concerning that in October, A had made a report to the police.

“A is said to have reported to the police that a man she met through a dating app had stolen money from her wallet and asked them to help recover it. During this, she mentioned the suspect Chigira’s nickname. It is believed that the man A was referring to was Chigira. Investigators requested evidence from A, but since she did not cooperate, they ended their response,” said a reporter from the social department.

Chigira is reportedly remaining silent regarding the detailed motive for A’s murder.
