On October 9, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police&#8217;s Mukojima Station arrested Hirota Yamashiro (31), an unemployed resident of Nerima Ward, on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse. He is accused of sexually assaulting a child referred to as A-kun at a nursery school in Sumida Ward where he worked as a childcare worker. During the investigation, Yamashiro reportedly stated, &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to talk about the incident.&#8221;
&#8220;The incident for which Yamashiro is suspected occurred on the afternoon of August 16 this year. He is alleged to have called A-kun into an empty room and committed lewd acts. After returning home, A-kun reported the abuse to his family. His father consulted the police, stating, &#8216;My son has suffered sexual abuse at the nursery school he attends.&#8217; This led to the discovery of the incident,&#8221; reported a national newspaper&#8217;s social affairs reporter.

The government is working on measures to prevent such troubles in advance, such as establishing a &#8216;Japanese version of DBS&#8217; to verify the criminal records of teachers, taking inspiration from the UK&#8217;s system.&#8221;
In the case mentioned at the beginning of this article, the police are also investigating in detail the extra crimes of the nursery school teacher who was arrested.
