Shinji Ishimaru has shown “various faces” since his election as governor of Tokyo. ……

Shinji Ishimaru, former mayor of Aki Takata City, is facing a headwind.

In the Tokyo gubernatorial election held on July 7, he was far behind incumbent Yuriko Koike, but he overtook Renho, who had left the Democratic Party of Japan’s Rikken Democratic Party, to take second place. She received approximately 1.66 million votes.

Ishimaru has become the darling of the times, but his “disturbing comments” were noticed in the special election program.

He was unable to communicate with sociologist Kenju Furuichi, who appeared on the program, and he was “salty” to interviewer Rena Yamazaki, a former member of “Nogizaka46” on “Mr. Sunday” (Fuji Television Network).

The exchange, in which he could not communicate at all, was ridiculed on the Internet as “Ishimaru’s syntax” and has become a major source of amusement.

This was a complete change from the fresh impression he gave during the election campaign. Viewers commented

“He doesn’t seem very nice.

I didn’t know he was like this.

and “I didn’t know he was like this. Some of them said

“He’s like Siri from a long time ago,” one viewer said.

Some compared his inability to make any progress to a virtual assistant on a smartphone.
