Seibu infielder Sousuke Genda, 32, injured his left leg in an open game against Hanshin on March 12 and was diagnosed with a left rectus femoris muscle injury.

Speaking of Genda, he came to the public’s attention when “Weekly Bunshun” scooped him for having an affair with a woman working in Ginza in the off-season. Seibu lost 91 games last year, finishing last in the Pacific League, and the public was very critical of Genda, who was the mainstay of the team. For this reason, there was considerable concern among the nine members of the team that Genda might get injured if he overworked himself. During the camp, Genda did not hit many sharp liner pitches, which is his specialty, and it was hard to deny the feeling that he had not adjusted well enough. Seibu is also concerned about what will happen next with the woman.

The team wants to know if Genda has “broken off” with the woman with whom he had an affair in order to avoid new problems, but Genda and his wife have been trying to revive their image as the “happily married” couple, or perhaps they want to talk about it.
