In late May, Nippon TV announced details for its prominent special, 24-Hour TV.

The broadcast is scheduled for August 31st to September 1st. However, the absence of information about the main personalities drew significant attention. Typically, both the broadcast schedule and the personalities involved are revealed around mid-April each year. Despite more than a month passing since then, this information has still not been made public. 
&#8220;24-Hour TV has traditionally featured many talents from the former Johnny &amp; Associates (now STARTO ENTERTAINMENT). Even amidst last year&#8217;s controversy surrounding the late Johnny Kitagawa&#8217;s alleged sexual misconduct, seven members of &#8216;Naniwa Danshi&#8217; were chosen. This year, although the lineup of talents remains undisclosed, behind the scenes, casting negotiations are reportedly underway. According to sources, the first choice was a combined team of &#8216;Ae! group,&#8217; who released their debut single on May 15th, and &#8216;timelesz&#8217; (formerly Sexy Zone), as well as the duo formation of &#8216;King &amp; Prince.&#8217; However, due to negative public feedback, the agency has reportedly declined the offer, and adjustments are still ongoing.&#8221; (Entertainment agency insider)

While programming and production departments express favorable views, there is cautious sentiment from sales and news divisions. According to insiders from entertainment agencies, last year&#8217;s controversy involved the somewhat forceful inclusion of &#8216;Naniwa Danshi,&#8217; who achieved a household viewer rating of 11.3%, ranking historically low at 35th place, which contributed to these negative perceptions.
The main question now is who will be selected as this year&#8217;s main personalities. Delay in the official decision has heightened public interest, yet internally at Nippon TV, there is concern beyond casting issues. Last year&#8217;s scandal involving misappropriation of charity fundraising funds has led to viewer disengagement, which is seen as a more pressing issue.

Despite this, stopping charity fundraising is not feasible as the show must go on, prompting discussions about unconventional solutions. 
&#8220;This issue is significant and calls into question the fundamental purpose of the program, yet upper management has decided to proceed with this year&#8217;s broadcast. Once committed, fundraising cannot be avoided. Current proposals include reducing the frequency and visibility of fundraising appeals within the program, such as shortening last year&#8217;s three-minute Saturday 6:00-7:00 PM fundraising announcements to just one minute this year.
