Tori Matsuzaka (34) became the talk of the town as a colleague of Masato Sakai (49), the lead actor in the drama “VIVANT” (TBS). Five years have passed since the release of his best-known film, “Brothel Year,” which was based on male prostitutes. In Kabukicho, the women’s sex industry is showing further development.

According to a major sex industry information website, there are 94 listings in Tokyo. Since the largest “Secret Base” affiliate is not listed on the information site, it is safe to assume that there are more than 100 stores in Tokyo. Masato (pseudonym, 21), who has been working as a therapist for six months, was initially surprised at the difference from the male sex industry.

The clientele consists of housewives and female office workers, and many of the therapists are office workers or university students, which makes them look like amateurs,” he said.

Many customers initially book the inexpensive date course, and if they feel comfortable with the therapist, they then book the sexual course. Anyway, the demand for actually communicating with the cast before getting into play is stronger than for men.”

In men’s sex industry, there are male customers who do not nominate a sex worker but enter the store on a free basis and enjoy what kind of girl they will be treated by. However, in the female sex industry, most women make reservations after exchanging DMs with therapists and confirming the atmosphere. Considering the time and money involved, the hurdle seems to be higher than in the male sex industry.

In such a situation, an event for women’s sex industry has been held in Kabukicho in recent years.

In commemoration of the second anniversary of the opening of the bar, we are holding a bar event.

The “women’s style” store “Tei-MIKADO” is so named. It is one of the sex stores for women that are steadily gaining recognition. In Kabukicho, bars open at midnight. Many of them offer their services until then, and such events are often held. The “Tei” event was also held in a building that houses many host clubs and snack bars in Kabukicho.

The fee was 3,000 yen for one hour. The plan to nominate a cast member of your choice was 4,000 yen, and a cast member drink was 1,000 yen, a price range similar to that of a con café.

After 8:00 p.m., the bar was almost full of female customers, who looked like housewives, not unlike those in Kabukicho. Most of them were in their 30s and 40s. The women seemed to be enjoying the bar not so much for the “customer service” as for the chance to meet their favorite therapist or to talk with a female cast member.

I didn’t expect it to be so successful,” said Honoo (26), owner of Tei.

Unlike hosts, we don’t have many customers who work at night, but rather office workers and housewives. Usually, you have to book a date course to meet with a therapist, but at events like this, you can meet several of the store’s cast members at once. Even regulars come to meet another therapist they would like to nominate. There are even people who come to an event as a friend’s chaperone and make their debut as a jo-kaze therapist.

The hourly wage for jofu therapists is about 5,000 yen, and it is difficult to make a full-time job unless you have a large number of customers, so many of them become therapists on the side. The area is already in a buyer’s market, and some therapists are losing money.

In order for women’s style establishments to survive in such an environment, there is a lot of interaction among owners. At the “Tei” bar event, the owner of “Beauty & Beast,” which is also famous in the women’s fashion industry, visited and popped open a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Beauty & Beast has female therapists on staff, and they offer counseling and healing services for those with sexual problems.

The sex industry is in a state of rapid rise and fall, and the women’s entertainment industry is struggling to expand its market.
