 Katagiri and Miyata used to be colleagues. They worked at different high schools in Hokkaido for six years from April 2004 to March 2010.

They never raised their voices. He was a mild-mannered and educated teacher. From that time on, Ms. Miyata and Mr. Katagiri were well known for their closeness.
