‘In the head with something like a screwdriver’ … Osaka Police Sergeant, Head Stabbing, ‘graphic crime scene photos’.
At around 6:45 p.m. on March 3, a male sergeant (32) of the Fuse Police Station was on patrol on a street in Kami Kita 9-chome, Hirano-ku, Osaka City, when he questioned a man about his duties and was stabbed in the head with what appeared to be a screwdriver. The stabber fled the scene, and the male sergeant was transported to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. The suspect was described by police officers as a young man of foreign appearance.
The site is about 180 meters from Kizurikamikita Station on the JR Osakahigashi Line, where there are many factories, and a few meters further on is Higashi-Osaka City. The area around the site is deserted at night. Since there are also houses scattered around the area, residents in the neighborhood were anxiously watching the scene.
In addition, police cars and other vehicles were frequently coming and going in the vicinity of the scene to search for the suspect, and the area was enveloped in a tense atmosphere. In addition, police dogs were seen searching for the suspect’s belongings on the streets in the area.
The Osaka Prefectural Police are searching for the whereabouts of the man who fled the scene as a case of attempted murder.
