A woman came running into a convenience store late at night asking for help. She had multiple injuries and was covered in blood. Her face was frightened.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on July 6 in a restaurant district in Nerima, Tokyo. A man in a black suit holding a kitchen knife chased Ms. A, a woman in her 40s. The man stabbed her in the chest and stomach.
The scene was downtown, about 150 meters from Nerima Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. A person who witnessed the trouble called 110 and said, ‘A man with a kitchen knife is chasing a woman. The woman was covered in blood. The man chased her into the convenience store where she ran into, but quickly fled.
From security camera footage, the assailant was identified as Morito Mogami, 64, an unemployed suspect who lives in a nearby apartment building. The Nerima Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department took the suspect into custody after he returned to his home at a little past 4:00 a.m. on the following day, 7 days after the incident, about 5 hours later. The suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, admitted the crime, saying, ‘I am sure I did it.
Contact with the police blaming the store
Mr. A was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but fortunately his life is not in serious condition. Mr. A is a Filipino national. What kind of trouble did she have with the top suspect?
Mr. A is the manager of a Filipino pub in Nerima Ward. He is a regular customer of the pub and is said to have developed a liking for one of the female employees. However, his attitude in the store may have been bad. It is said that he often quarreled with Ms. A, who was in charge.
The most suspect, who felt resentment, contacted the police several times since May to criticize the store and its employees, saying things like, “I can’t forgive you. Just before the incident, he reported that he was going to kill the woman, and the police instructed the store to be careful.
On the day of the incident, the suspect was seen in front of the store. It seems that the suspect prepared a knife in advance and waited for Ms. A to come out of the store before committing the crime.
The suspect also stated, “I was banned from the store. He was banned from the store and got angry and stabbed her. I thought I was being taken advantage of and made fun of. It seems that he had developed a one-sided grudge against the store for its treatment of him.
The top suspect was sent to the police on July 8. Perhaps as a sign of atonement, he bowed deeply to the assembled press as he boarded the transport vehicle.
