They throw cold pita at the president and dress him up as Sailor Moon. …… This kind of YouTube is very popular. The number of subscribers to the channel exceeded 1 million this past December! The company that distributes the videos is Daikyo Security Service, which has 87 employees.

Why on earth would a security company make such a video?

It’s for recruiting. I took over this company from my father, and when I joined, 60% of the applicants were in their 50s or older, even though we advertised job openings.

Some people quit due to health problems, and others were approaching retirement age. Due to these circumstances, one to three people a month, or about 20 people a year, leave the company. If this continues, the company will eventually go out of business. We started the program to secure human resources in a backwater situation.

The YouTube distribution began in March 2019. The year before that, in 2018, the effective ratio of job openings for security guards in Tokyo was 99 times. He says that 99 companies were competing for one person. The security industry is suffering from a chronic shortage of workers.

But why are you making a video that has nothing to do with the job?

If people are not interested in the security industry, there is a shortage of human resources. If people are interested in security work, there is no shortage of personnel, so if you make a YouTube introducing the work, it will not attract attention. So we focused on young people and created content that would get their attention.

The most popular video so far is the “I threw a bunch of flags at the president,” in which he drew the flags of countries around the world on a cold pita and attached them to the president to the sound of the flags. This version received 3.38 million “likes” from all over the world!

YouTube has helped to increase the number of job applicants from 60% over 50s to 60% in their 20s!

What is the effect of YouTube?

They have a large client base. “Where there was nothing before, stations and buildings are being built. I’ve been watching them all my life, so it’s fun to see them grow along with the city.

We also have direct contact with our neighbors. We greet them every day, and we sometimes receive gifts from them. Some children who were in elementary school have become junior high school students. It is rewarding to see them grow up.

At construction sites, we often receive complaints about noise and other problems. They have become friendly with their neighbors, exchanging greetings, and have even received commendations for having few complaints.

It is up to the president to decide what kind of YouTube to broadcast. He used to broadcast seven times a week, but now he broadcasts three times a week.

However, the retention rate is only 30%. The struggle to secure human resources continues…
