Kitayama is filming a drama in the high-rise district of Nishi-Shinjuku. Kitayama, a former NEET and video game geek, appears in glasses as a lawyer.

The mystery drama “The Scales of Justice” (NHK, scheduled to start airing on September 25) is about a doctor-turned-lawyer genius named Takano, played by Kamenashi Kazuya (35), who uncovers the truth behind a number of difficult cases. It was a day in early September when I encountered the filming of this drama in Shinjuku.

While extras playing the roles of reporters and cameramen were waiting in the light rain, Hiromitsu Kitayama (36) of “Kis-My-Ft2” appeared from a pick-up truck. Unusually, he was wearing glasses because of his role. He plays Sugimura, a lawyer who works on the same team as Takano. Sugimura, a lawyer who works on the same team as Takano, is a NEET turned lawyer who studied hard and has a shining lawyer’s badge on his jacket collar.

On this day, they were filming a scene where Sugimura, played by Kitayama, is surrounded by a large number of reporters as he walks. After the shooting, Kitayama was checking the monitor with a serious expression.

Kamenashi and Kitayama belong to the same Japanese office. Although Kamenashi joined the agency and made his CD debut before Kitayama, they are actually in the same year. I’m looking forward to seeing their well-matched performances.

A cut from the magazine: Kis-My-Ft2’s Hiromitsu Kitayama gives a passionate performance as a lawyer surrounded by extras.
