Despite being a freelance announcer, Sumi was selected as an actress for the NTV Saturday drama “Pandora’s Fruit: Scientific Crime Investigation Files.” The drama is about a mysterious case at the Scientific Crime Unit headed by Yuichi Obinamaki, played by Dean Fujioka. Sumi plays the role of a mysterious woman, Sayaka Kageyama.

When it was announced that she would be appearing in the film, Sumi said, “It was my first time to do a scene in a medical field, and I struggled a lot with the difficult terminology and the injection scene. Moreover, the protective clothing was very hot and uncomfortable, and it is hard to see in it. The difficulty was probably the reason why I felt a sense of accomplishment after  finishing the project with everyone,” she commented on the official website.
