Masami Nagasawa’s precious “completely off-duty, relaxed casual wear” gives off a sense of presence
Masquerade Night", the sequel to the hit movie, is finally released this month.
In the early afternoon of September, I saw actress Masami Nagasawa (34) walking along the street of luxury boutiques in Omotesando, Tokyo. She was dressed simply in a white blouse and loose-fitting black pants. Nagasawa hustled from one luxury brand store to another. She tried on a bag in front of a mirror and had a friendly chat with a sales clerk.
“Although she often shows off her glittering dresses at film festivals, Nagasawa is known for her simplicity in her personal clothes. In fact, she likes the “normcore” style that is popular in New York. Normcore is simple clothing that does not focus on trends. It doesn’t mean that she is indifferent to fashion at all.
On September 17, “Masquerade Night,” a sequel to the hit movie in which Nagasawa played the lead role with Takuya Kimura (48), which grossed 4.6 billion yen at the box office in 2007, will be released. In January of next year, the third theatrical version of the popular drama “Confidence Man JP: Hero Arc” is scheduled to be released.
“It is a common belief in the movie industry that if Masami Nagasawa is in a movie, it will be a hit. She has a wide range of roles and can make a film stand out whether she plays the lead or a supporting role. Her track record and clean image make it easy for her to get sponsors. I hear that foreign production teams are also beginning to take notice of Nagasawa. Nagasawa herself is eager to work with them, saying, “If the timing is right. I think there is a possibility that she will make a full-scale entry into overseas productions once Corona is over.
Expectations are high for a further leap forward.
