He is serious and diligent in his work. That’s why I can’t hide my surprise that such rumors have surfaced.

A certain allegation is now creating controversy mainly on social networking sites. The content of the allegation is that a male TBS employee, A, called a female Ukrainian refugee to a bar in Shibuya to have sexual relations with her on the pretext of conducting an interview.

If true, this is an extremely unethical behavior. However, the aforementioned staff member who knows A well raises an eyebrow at the allegation.

A graduated from a famous private university and joined TBS several years ago. From elementary school to university, he played baseball exclusively. Perhaps because of this, he is an extremely serious person, and I have never heard him talk about anything frivolous. He had a good reputation among his superiors.

The incident began with a tweet posted in early June by an accusatory influencer with more than 500,000 followers. The post, titled “TBS employee negotiates threesome with displaced Ukrainian woman,” reads as follows

A called a Ukrainian displaced woman to a bar in Shibuya under the guise of interviewing her. The woman said that she trusted A very much because she had interviewed him in the past.

There, however, A took a surprising step. Using a voice translation app on her phone, she said

I know you want to have sex with me, so I’m going to invite a man I know, so the three of us can go to a hotel.

The woman got scared and ran away from the restaurant.

The woman became frightened and ran away from the store. The woman later sent a message asking for an explanation, but did not receive any reply from A.

When we sent a letter of inquiry to TBS, we received the following response.

When we sent a letter of inquiry to TBS, we received the following response: “It is not true that our reporter invited the woman to a hotel or tried to call her friend. We are concerned about the possibility that there may have been some misunderstanding or miscommunication between the parties involved, as the reporter and the woman were talking using the translation function on her smartphone. We are considering legal action against the spread of false information on social networking sites and the Internet.

According to the post of the influencer who made the revelation, the woman has already visited the Ukrainian Embassy and reported the damage. What are the facts? If there are no facts, TBS should be proactive in explaining the situation.
