The attack took place in broad daylight.
A little past 2:00 p.m. on June 5, a bullet was fired into the home (Kita Ward, Kobe City) of Kunio Inoue, 73, head of the Kobe Yamaguchi Gumi, a designated gang in a specified war. Later, Yuji Hayashi, 49, a member of the Yamaguchigumi VI Koudoukai, turned himself in at a police box and was arrested on suspicion of violating the Firearms Control Law (possession).
 The gunman apparently climbed on top of a car, reloaded a revolver six-shooter, and fired 14 shots. Some reports said &#8216;more than 10 rounds,&#8217; but that is precisely what happened. One undercover patrol car of the Hyogo Prefectural Police was on alert at the scene, but it was unable to respond at the scene while reloading, and some people are saying that it was a blunder.
