Yamaken-gumi leader Koji Nakata was arrested in December 2007. What kind of existence does a gang office have for yakuza? A senior official of the 6th Yamaguchigumi clan emphasizes, “An office where regular meetings are held is absolutely necessary for us.” He added, “When all the members gather at a meeting, the boss shows his face. This creates a sense of tension. This is where discipline is born. The younger members who live in their rooms can eat in the office and sometimes receive an allowance from the older brothers who visit the office,” he explained. He also noted, “Although the use of Ken Yamamoto’s office has been banned, there will probably be a request for an injunction against the use of another organization’s office,” but he also pointed out, “There will probably be no ban on the use of Shinohara’s main office.   The main house of Shinohara refers to the headquarters of the 6th Yamaguchi Gumi. Since it is located in Shinohara Honmachi, Nada-ku, Kobe, it is sometimes called Shinohara. As for the reason why there has been no request for an injunction against the use of the building, “The young men who live in the rooms of the main house are regularly patrolling the area for security, and the surrounding area is also swept and cleaned. The area is safe and the residents in the vicinity do not consider it a nuisance,” he revealed. However, due to the ongoing rivalry between the Yamaguchigumi VI and the Kobe Yamaguchigumi, both are designated as specified rival gangs under the Anti-Boryokudan Law, and Kobe City has been set as a restricted area, so entry to their offices is prohibited.   If the state of rivalry is terminated, the designation as a specified rivalry will be lifted and the use of the Yamaguchigumi 6th Yamaguchi General Headquarters will be possible again, but with the decision of the provisional disposition regarding the Sanken-gumi Headquarters office, the likelihood of this happening is very low.
