Russian Silver Medalist Trusova’s Smile at the Rink Radiates Peace
Alexandra Trusova (Russia), silver medalist in women’s figure skating at the Beijing Olympics, has created a stir by revealing a “white see-through outfit” on her Instagram account.
Trusova showed a photo of herself with a bouquet of flowers at the skating rink. Her trademark bright red hair is tied back and she is waving her hands. A necklace sparkles from around her neck. And the most remarkable thing about the photo is the outfit. She is wearing a see-through jacket with a white collar over a blue two-piece undergarment. Very bold and beautiful.
Trusova was born in 2004 in Ryazan, Russia. She started figure skating in 2008 and won the free skating at the 2018 World Junior Championships with a successful quadruple toe-loop and quadruple salchow. In Beijing, Trusova attempted a superhuman composition of five quadruple jumps and set a personal best, but finished second. Trusova has attracted attention not only for her ability, but also for her beauty.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, all kinds of sanctions have been imposed on Russia. The sports world is no exception, and Russian athletes were excluded from the World Championships in Montpellier, France. In the midst of all this, Trusova posted a controversial comment on Instagram, saying, “Spring is over and winter has begun.”
The war continues to intensify and there is no end in sight. The Russian athlete is unable to hide her anxiety over the fact that she no longer has any goal for her career in the future.
For Trusova, the silver at the Beijing Olympics must have been too frustrating for her to accept at first; the sight of her sobbing in the hall after being placed second is still fresh in her mind. That is why she was so eager for a comeback. She and her fans must have had very complicated feelings.
And yet, she was smiling at the skating rink. We can only hope that the war will end as soon as possible, and we will be able to see the same smile at international competitions.
