Cocomi will be a “star of the future” at the concert, which will be held on May 21 in Tokyo. The event will be held at Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo.
This is a powerful orchestral concert featuring three of Japan’s next generation of classical musicians, Cocomi (Fl.), Ai Takamatsu (Vn.), and Mirai Kakuno (Pf.), who have garnered much attention in the classical music world. The name of the concert, “RISING STAR CLASSICS,” was inspired by the image of “musicians who will become stars” being born one after another.
Cocomi began playing violin at age 3 and flute at age 11; she competed in the All Japan Student Music Competition in 2018 and won the highest prize at the Japan Sogaku Competition the following year, as well as a prize at the All Japan Student Music Competition. She is currently studying flute at Toho Gakuen School of Music, where she studies with Hiroaki Kanda, principal flutist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
Last March, she received an offer from composer/pianist Chad Lawson to participate in a global campaign to commemorate World Sleep Day, and played the flute in the campaign song “STAY. The song drew worldwide attention.
It has been announced that she will debut on the prestigious DECCA GOLD label in New York, USA, and her debut album “de l’amour” will be released on April 29.
