The idol group &#8220;#BabaBambi&#8221; continues to make exceptionally rapid progress despite its debut in the Corona disaster.
On March 27, the group celebrated the final show of their national tour to commemorate the second anniversary of their debut with great success, and it was announced that they will hold a solo live concert at Nakano Sun-plaza in Tokyo in October. We asked Miyu Kishi, a core member of the group that is gaining momentum, about the road to their debut and the source of her own toughness.

<h2>Hope for those with complexes</h2>
 High!&#8221; #BaBaBaBambi, I&#8217;m Miyu Kishi aka Miyu Kishi, the red-colored 145cm girl.
In her self-introduction, Kishi describes her own individuality as her height of 145cm. She now considers her small stature to be one of her strengths, but in the past, it was a major complex for her.
 When I was in elementary school, boys would tease me about my short stature, and there were days when I cried and couldn&#8217;t go to school.
 I was sometimes told, &#8216;It&#8217;s cute that you are short,&#8217; but if you are actually suffering from it, it is not a positive thing at all.
 I thought I would have to live with such gloomy feelings for the rest of my life, but now that I am working as an idol, I think I may be able to use it as a weapon, and for the first time I am feeling positive about it.
 Many of my fans who come to my events are not as tall as the other members&#8217; fans. I am very happy when they say, &#8220;I came here because I admire you,&#8221; and it encourages me to be a little bit of hope for people who have various complexes, not just height.

Her introduction to the entertainment industry came from a video she uploaded online in March 2019, in which she slurped udon noodles.
 She said, &#8220;Right after I graduated from high school, I went out with my best friend and we happened to eat udon by accident. I made a video of it and put it on TikTok, and for some reason it got a lot of buzz. Someone from my current office found the video and approached me.
After graduating from high school, she intended to go to a beauty school to acquire skills in hair, makeup, nail art, and esthetics, but decided to drop out after three days of enrollment.

 I had a lot of doubts about whether or not to quit the school,&#8221; she said. But when I thought, &#8216;I want to do performing arts,&#8217; my mother told me, &#8216;Do what you want to do best,&#8217; and I made the decision. Even my father, who is usually very strict, gave me a push at that time.&#8221;
In the fall of 2019, while working part-time at a yakiniku restaurant and modeling for the present page of a magazine, a representative from her agency asked her if she would like to try idol work. He was invited to join.
Kishi, who had always loved singing and hoped to make singing her career, said yes with a resounding yes. Since then, she has spent her days taking lessons and handing out flyers at event halls in preparation for her debut live concert in March 2020.
 She wrote a message on each leaflet in her own handwriting and handed out at least 100 leaflets at a time.
#The catchphrase that was used to announce the formation of Baba Baba Bambi was &#8220;the idol with the strongest face deviation. Kishi and her group had been working hard in their lessons to meet the attention of fans and the media who had yet to see them. However, an unexpected situation strikes the girls. It was one week before their debut live performance, and they were in the midst of final adjustment lessons.

 The girls were asked, &#8220;Since other idols were scheduled to perform at our debut live, what should we say to them when we meet them in the dressing room? The members were talking to each other after the lesson in a relaxed mood, saying things like, &#8220;I&#8217;m so nervous about the show. Then some adults came in and said, &#8220;What&#8217;s going on? and they handed me a piece of paper.
The message was that the live concert had been canceled. Suspicious of a surprise, the band members looked around, but the managers&#8217; expressions were all hard, and they knew it was unmistakably true.
 Everyone was at a loss for words, and the only thing that came out of their mouths were tears.

In addition to the shock of the cancellation, great anxiety overcame Kishi. In addition to the shock of the cancellation, Kishi was also struck by a great fear: that his activities would spontaneously cease to exist without a debut.
At that time, Kishi quit his part-time job at a yakiniku restaurant in preparation for his debut.

 He was also worried about what he would do with his life now that he had quit his part-time job and school.
Even then, it was his mother who had his back.
 My mom had invited me to the concert, so it must have been a shock for her to cancel it, but she was always there for me and kept consoling me.&#8221;
What encouraged her even more were the fans who looked forward to her live performances.
 I thought some people would leave, but everyone was so kind, saying, &#8216;I&#8217;ll be waiting for you. I can&#8217;t tell you how much those fans&#8217; voices saved my life.
We don&#8217;t know when we will be able to hold our debut live show. There are no lessons. Under such circumstances, the members continued to send out messages on SNS, saying, &#8220;Let&#8217;s do what we can do at home. Among them, Kishi was &#8220;hooked&#8221; on live video distribution.
 I was limited in what I could do, so I was doing it almost every day,&#8221; Kishi said. There were times when more than 1,000 people came to see my videos.

After a period of steady online activities and live performances without an audience, it was not until August 2020 that the long-cherished dream of a live performance with an audience was realized.
 I will never forget the sight of standing on stage and seeing the audience filled with fans. I perform to the camera for the delivery, but (with an audience) you can really feel that they are watching you. I was moved to realize how gratifying it was to see fans wearing our merchandise and penlights cheering us on.&#8221;

And now the momentum of #BabaBambi continues to spread across the country.
 The national tour was full of both local and distant visitors. I can&#8217;t believe that there are people all over Japan who look forward to our live shows. I really feel grateful that we are able to do this because we lost our debut live performance in Corona. Corona was a big obstacle, but on the other hand, now I feel that without it, we would not have made it this far.
#Baba Bambi&#8217;s goal is to &#8220;hold a live concert at the Budokan. Kishi also has another goal that she wants to achieve as an idol.
 When we perform live with an audience, I&#8217;ve never heard them call out because we don&#8217;t allow them to speak out. Fans clap for us, wave penlights at us, and imitate our movements without saying a word. Since I can&#8217;t speak, they convey their passion in various ways. But singing and dancing to the chorus is what idols absolutely long for.
I wonder how big a stage #BaBaBaBambi will be standing on when the venue is filled with &#8220;Miyu Kishi&#8217;s call&#8221;.

Born in Saitama Prefecture. 
She is in charge of the red color of the idol group #BabaBambi, which debuted in 2020. 
The group is currently appearing in a commercial for the popular &#8220;Nemophila Festival 2022&#8221; event at Osaka Maishima Seaside Park. 
The group is also collaborating with Don Quijote to offer goods at the chain&#8217;s 100 stores. 
On April 16, the group will hold a free event at Abeno Q&#8217;s Mall Sky Court in Osaka; on August 14 at Zepp Namba Osaka; and on October 21 at Nakano Sun-plaza in Tokyo, each of which will be the group&#8217;s largest live performance to date.
