Bilodid Stays Strong Amidst Ongoing War in Ukraine
Daria Bilodid (Ukraine), a bronze medalist in the women’s 48-kilogram judo weight class at the Tokyo Olympics and known as a judoka who is too beautiful and charming in her judo uniform. The official Instagram account of the European Judo Federation has released this photo.
Bilodid, a well-known influencer with more than 500,000 followers, has been sharing the devastation in her native Ukraine on social media. Since the beginning of the Russian military invasion, she has been asking the world for support. This European Judo Federation post saw comments telling her to stay strong.
With over 500,000 followers on social media, Daria has been sharing the tough life of an athlete and the glamour of success on her social networking sites. But all that changed when we spoke to the 21-year-old, who revealed, how much her life has changed. How sports have given her the mental strength to use her platform to gain support for her fellow countrymen.

Bilodid, now 21, won the 2018 World Championships at the age of 17, breaking the record for the youngest competitor, and then went on to win the following year’s World Championships. Her nickname is “Anaconda” because of her long arms and legs, she never misses her prey. She was also a candidate for the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics but ended up with a bronze medal.
The war gave her a reason not to lose. We can only hope that she will continue to make further progress as we see her at the next Olympics in Paris.
