Russia’s Trusova’s “Peace Sign Photo” Trigger Mixed Feelings From the Fans
Alexandra Trusova (Russia), silver medalist in women’s figure skating at the Beijing Olympics, has suddenly created a stir by revealing a “peace sign,” meaning peace, on her Instagram account.
Trusova was born in 2004 in Ryazan, Russia. Born to a taekwondo athlete father and a track and field athlete mother, she began figure skating in 2008 and won the 2018 World Junior Championships in free skating with a successful quadruple toeloop and quadruple salchow. In Beijing, Trusova attempted a superhuman composition of five quadruple jumps and set a personal best, but finished second. In addition to her ability, Trusova is also attracting attention because of her beauty.
Trusova has now released a two-shot with Russian figure skater Marc Kondratyuk (Beijing Olympics, team gold), both of them making a peace sign.
In fact, did you know that a series of Russian figure skaters have been publishing peace signs on their Instagram recently? Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the country has been tightening its control of speech. Medvedeva, who posted what could be seen as a protest at the beginning of the invasion, has remained silent since then, leading fans to speculate that she has been given some kind of guidance.
In the meantime, at the Channel One Cup, where Russian figure skaters excluded from the World Championships due to the sanctions are competing, Alina Zagitova, gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, and Anna Scherbakova, gold at the Beijing Olympics, also posted peace signs. Rumor has it that this is a hidden protest by the Russian figure skaters …….
Although only the Russian skaters themselves know the truth of the rumors, we hope that the world will soon return to a time when everyone can enjoy figure skating freely and happily.
