A series of scandals…! Contents of the “Emergency Department Heads’ Meeting” held by the Teresa News Bureau
President resigns over expense spending; two employees arrested over "IT introduction subsidy" fraud.
‘The company has been inundated with calls scolding and complaining. What’s going on at our company?” The employees on the frontlines are stunned,” said a Telemachine staff member.
On February 8, a suspect, Kento Mita, 49, head of the Sales Promotion Department’s Solution Promotion Division, was arrested on suspicion of fraud, and on February 10, President Keiji Kameyama was arrested on a charge of personal fraud in connection with his personal use of expenses. On March 1, Akihiro Okuyama, 47, a desk clerk at the news bureau, was arrested again for fraud. …… Both arrested are alleged to have fraudulently obtained “IT introduction subsidies.
Both are believed to have illegally received approximately 9 million yen in subsidies through the same Osaka-based website creation company. Mr. Mita is an executive who manages the sales department. He is well looked after and adored by his subordinates, and his annual income is believed to be around 18 million yen. Mr. Okuyama is a desk clerk in the news bureau. He seems to come from a wealthy family and was famous as a well-heeled man who drove many foreign cars.
Seven years ago, he was also the chairman of the labor union at Teresa. Since neither of them was in need of money, there are questions even within the company as to why they would commit fraud.
If a news bureau desk clerk was arrested, his credibility would be severely shaken. Taking the situation seriously, upper management held an “emergency meeting of news bureau managers” on March 2, the day after Okuyama’s arrest, and notified employees of the meeting via e-mail.
In response to yesterday’s arrest, an emergency meeting of the news department heads was held today, at which the following explanation was given by Director-General 00
The email, which begins with the words
[Joon] is a veteran employee who has been involved in news reporting for a long time, and most significantly, he remained silent for 20 days after the arrest of the SP Bureau employee (note: the suspect Mita), even though he was aware that he had done the same thing. Whatever the reason, it is irresponsible and outrageous.
It is written. The content of the letter shows the anger of the upper management. At the end of the e-mail, the following message was included as a “request for the future.
We are not saying that tax-saving measures and asset management are bad, but we would like each of you to check for any transactions that may be illegal. As a news organization, credibility is everything, and that is why this incident was so bitterly regrettable, and we cannot allow the same thing to happen again. (omission) Executive Director Shinozuka said, “I said at the time of the Sports Bureau’s downfall that people working for news organizations need to have much higher ethical standards than the general public. I would like you to put your hand on your heart and think about whether you have committed an unethical act.
I hope the hand on the chest doesn’t result in further scandalous revelations …….
