Ukrainian Judo Bronze and Bilodyd “Reportedly Evacuated to Spain”
While the war over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine intensifies, Dalia Bilodyd (Ukraine), known as a too-beautiful judoka and a bronze medalist in the women’s 48-kilogram judo division at the Tokyo Olympics, is attracting attention with a photo of her sitting seiza in her judo uniform. Behind her, a large “STOP THE WAR” can be seen.
In fact, it seems that Bilodid has now taken refuge in Spain from Ukraine.
He wrote on Instagram, “I would like to say a big thank you to @intjudovalencia (judo club in Valencia, Spain) for accepting me.”
‘Thank you for helping me and my family. I am happy to train strong in your club.”
and
‘Thank you to all who have helped me,’ he said. I am happy to be a part of this big judo family.”
and thanked the judoka for their bond with each other.
This was met with comments from fans who said, “We are glad you are safe.
Bilodide, now 21, won the 2018 World Championships at the age of 17, breaking the record for the youngest competitor, and then went on to win the following year’s World Championships, winning again. Her nickname is “Anaconda” because of her long arms and legs. She never misses her prey. She was also a candidate for the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, but ended up with the bronze medal.
Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, she has been reporting on the situation in Ukraine on her Instagram every day. She also called for donations for her fans in Japan. Fans were touched by such hard-working Bilodyd, but on the other hand, there must have been many fans who wished her safety.
As a result, she was able to escape to Spain, but she must be heartbroken that there are still people fighting in Ukraine. I hope that peace will come to Ukraine as soon as possible.
