A perfect underhand serve

The person holding a large bazooka and flashing her white teeth while posing with her hand on her forehead is actress Fuka Koshiba (29).

On October 17, the men’s professional volleyball SV League kicked off. Kozhiba appeared at the opening ceremonial first pitch for the match between the “Tokyo Great Bears” (hereinafter “Tokyo GB”) and the “Hokkaido Yellow Stars” held at Ariake Coliseum.

“It appears Ms. Koshiba was chosen because Nature Lab Co., Ltd.—the company behind the hair care brand ‘Diane,’ for which she serves as the brand ambassador—was the match-day sponsor for that event.

Wearing a Tokyo GB uniform with a pink base color and the number 29—the same as her age—Kozhiba made her appearance alongside Babo-chan and Grebear-kun, the Tokyo GB mascots. The unexpected appearance of the hugely popular actress sparked a stir among the volleyball fans packing the venue, with cries of “What?! No way!” filling the air. “The cheers were incredible, with people shouting things like ‘Fuka-chan is so cute!’” (Sports newspaper reporter)

Kozhiba took the microphone and said,

“This is my first time watching a volleyball match, and I’m already blown away. Let’s all enjoy this together,”

she called out to the crowd.

During the highly anticipated opening serve ceremony, she executed a superb underhand serve and was overjoyed as she exchanged high-fives with the Tokyo GB players. When she reappeared on the court during halftime, she took charge of the “towel bazooka”—holding a bazooka-like device, she aimed and fired original towels and T-shirts into the stands. She aimed at spectators who stood up and waved from the stands, firing the bazooka one shot after another. Then, just as she did at the beginning, she raised her hand to her forehead to check the direction the items were flying.

During the game, he watched from the stands alongside the other fans. He was even seen cheering loudly for Tokyo GB. Thanks to Koshiba’s support, the team secured a splendid victory.

Although the team struggled last season, finishing in 6th place (out of 10 teams), they’re sure to be stronger this season with the addition of a powerful supporter like Koshiba. It looks like they might even be in the running for the championship…
