[Full Story] Ryoki Miyama Accused of Forcing Secret Meetings and Becoming a Stalker—Maria Kano Explains “I Have No Romantic Feelings”

“I’ll divorce Shuri” and “I’ll leave the stage if you refuse”—pressuring her into secret meetings

“Actually, Kano was being pressured by Ryoki Miyama into having secret meetings. Soon after rehearsals began in June, Kano became concerned about Miyama’s acting ability and suggested practicing together privately. That seems to have given Miyama the wrong idea. He gradually began asking to meet her privately at places such as hotels, and when she refused, he would lock himself in his dressing room or skip rehearsals.”

A person involved in the production of the musical “Crash Landing on You” is making this difficult-to-believe claim.

“Kano” is Maria Kano (33), a former Takarazuka Revue otokoyaku? Wait, let’s correct: a former daughter-role performer in the Takarazuka Revue who now works primarily on stage. “Miyama” refers to Ryoki Miyama (27), the former member of BE:FIRST who overcame a scandal in which he allegedly had his former fiancée spend ¥100 million on him before marrying Shuri (35).

Miyama had promised his father-in-law Yutaka Mizutani (74) and mother-in-law Ran Ito (71), “I won’t cause any more problems,” and took on the stage production with the intention of showing them that he had become a new person. It was during this production that “Bunshun Online” reported that Miyama and his co-star Kano were engaged in an extramarital affair despite both being married. The public was thrown into an uproar over the two apparently becoming deeply involved in the affair, but this person involved in the production says, “The reality I witnessed was different from what was reported.”

“Once the play opened on July 12, Miyama reportedly began telling Kano, ‘If you won’t meet me, I’ll quit the show.’ He also allegedly threatened her, saying, ‘If I quit, the performances won’t be able to go ahead. If that happens, there will be penalties, and you’ll also be sued for damages.’ Kano became mentally unwell due to Miyama’s repeated demands and was diagnosed with adjustment disorder on July 20.” (same source)

Even after the allegations of an affair were reported on July 22, Miyama’s rampage reportedly did not stop. According to this source, he pressured Kano to continue their relationship, saying:

“I’m going to divorce Shuri. Yet I haven’t heard anything about you divorcing your husband. What are you going to do? Answer me right here, right now.”

This allegedly happened the day after the reports came out.

“I heard that he interrogated her backstage. Miyama would send her dozens of messages a day saying ‘I want to see you’ via LINE and Instagram DMs. On some days, he reportedly sent more than 100 messages. Toward the end of July, he also allegedly drove his Lamborghini to an area near Kano’s home. What he was doing was practically stalking her.” (same source)

Was it true that Miyama pressured Kano to continue their relationship by hinting that he would divorce Shuri and quit the stage production? Was Kano actually the victim of stalking and being pressured into secret meetings? In mid-August, “FRIDAY” confronted Kano after she finished work.

――We heard that Miyama sent you more than 100 messages a day saying, “I want to see you.”

“Yes, that’s right. I’m sorry, but please ask my agency.”

――Did Miyama hint that he would divorce Shuri and pressure you to continue the relationship?

“That’s also because there’s another person involved, I can’t answer that myself.”

――Did you have romantic feelings for Miyama?

“No.”

Kano’s agency declined to answer questions about Miyama mentioning divorce from Shuri or quitting the stage production, instead commenting:

“It is true that there was various communication between the two parties. However, regarding the details of what was said and matters concerning the other party’s private life, we refrain from commenting.”

Meanwhile, Miyama responded through his attorney, stating, “None of this is true.”

There is still no clear landing point for the controversy surrounding the alleged affair between the two married parties.
