Kana Kurashina and ØMI’s Sweet Grocery Date Caught on Camera!

At a supermarket beloved by celebrities

A new landmark that opened in Shinagawa, Tokyo, just last year is home to a supermarket beloved by local celebrities, offering fresh produce carefully selected by skilled buyers, along with a wide variety of wines.

On a weekday morning, before the store began to get crowded, a couple was spotted inside.

They filled a shopping basket with groceries and paid at the checkout. Their natural demeanor, almost like that of a married couple who had been together for years, meant that no one around them realized that the pair were actually actress Kana Kurashina (38) and popular singer ØMI (Hiroomi Tosaka, 39), one of the entertainment industry’s high-profile couples――.

ØMI passed the audition for “Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS” (now Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE) in 2010 and made his debut that same year as a vocalist in the group.

“Not long after their debut, Sandaime produced hit after hit. ‘R.Y.U.S.E.I.,’ released in 2014, surpassed 100 million views for its music video on YouTube and also won the Grand Prix at the 56th Japan Record Awards. That same year, ØMI made his acting debut in the film ‘Hot Road.’ In 2021, he began using the name ‘ØMI’ for his solo activities. He now uses ‘ØMI’ rather than ‘Hiroomi Tosaka’ for all of his activities. In March this year, he became CEO of CDL entertainment, a group company of his agency. The company supports ØMI’s solo artist activities and operates his fan community, among other things. ØMI is currently focusing on his solo career and apparel production,” said an entertainment reporter for a sports newspaper.

Kurashina, meanwhile, entered the entertainment industry earlier than ØMI, winning the grand prize at the “SMA Teens Audition 2005” in 2005.

“Kurashina beat out 1,775 applicants in the audition and established herself as a talented actress through the NHK morning drama ‘Well-kame’ (2009), in which she played the heroine. She subsequently appeared in numerous popular productions, including the dramas ‘Mother’ (Nippon TV) and ‘Namae o Nakushita Megami’ (Fuji TV). Since January this year, she has also been a regular on ‘Guruguru Ninety-Nine’ (Nippon TV), demonstrating her versatility across dramas, films, and variety shows,” the same source said.

It was hardly something the other shoppers could have imagined: such popular stars openly doing their grocery shopping at a supermarket. The two themselves simply enjoyed a leisurely shopping trip. ØMI wore a knit cap and mask, while Kurashina also wore a mask, but neither made any particular effort to avoid being seen. Even while ØMI took out his wallet and paid, the two leaned close together and chatted.

“I hear Tosaka and Kurashina met through a mutual acquaintance. They are the same age. They had a lot in common, including how they approach their work and the concerns they have, so I hear they hit it off immediately and eventually began dating,” said an acquaintance of Tosaka.
