[Exclusive Romance Scoop] Grocery Shopping at the Supermarket… Kana Kurashina & ØMI of the 3rd Generation Caught on a “Lovebird Shopping Date”!
At a supermarket beloved by celebrities…
A new landmark that just opened last year in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Tucked away in one corner of the complex is a supermarket beloved by local celebrities, stocked with fresh produce and a wide selection of wines carefully curated by expert buyers.
One weekday morning, before the store got too crowded, a couple was spotted inside.
They filled their shopping cart to the brim with groceries and paid at the register. Their natural demeanor—as if they were a long-married couple—was so convincing that no one realized the two were actually the high-profile couple: actress Kana Kurashina (38) and popular singer ØMI (Hiroomi Tosaka, 39).
In 2010, ØMI passed the audition for “The 3rd Generation J SOUL BROTHERS” (now renamed “The 3rd Generation J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE”) and made his debut as the group’s vocalist that same year.
“Shortly after their debut, the Third Generation released hit after hit.Their 2014 release ‘R.Y.U.S.E.I.’ surpassed 100 million views on YouTube and won the Grand Prize at the 56th Japan Record Awards. That same year, ØMI also made his acting debut in the film ‘Hot Road.’In 2021, he began using the name “ØMI” for his solo activities. He currently uses the name “ØMI” for all his activities, rather than “Hiroshi Tosaka.”In March of this year, he was appointed CEO of CDL entertainment, a group company of his agency. The company is responsible for supporting ØMI’s solo career and managing his fan community. “ØMI is currently focusing his efforts on his solo career and producing apparel,” said a sports newspaper entertainment reporter.
Kurashina, on the other hand, entered the entertainment industry earlier than ØMI, winning the Grand Prix at the “SMA Teens Audition 2005” in 2005.
“Kurashina emerged victorious from an audition with 1,775 applicants and solidified her status as a talented actress by playing the lead role in the NHK morning drama *Well Kame* (2009). Since then, she has appeared in numerous hit productions, including the dramas *Mother* (Nippon TV) and *The Goddess Who Lost Her Name* (Fuji TV).Since January of this year, she has been a regular cast member on “Guruguru Ninety-Nine” (Nippon TV), and she remains active across a wide range of fields, including dramas, movies, and variety shows” (ibid.).
The other shoppers would never have imagined that such popular celebrities of the moment would be shopping so openly at a supermarket—yet the two were simply enjoying a leisurely shopping trip.ØMI was wearing a knit cap and a mask, and although Kurashina was also wearing a mask, neither showed any signs of trying to avoid attention. Even while ØMI took out his wallet to pay, the two leaned in close and chatted cheerfully.
“I hear Tosaka and Kurashina met through a mutual acquaintance. They’re the same age. They share many common interests, such as their approach to work and personal concerns, and I’ve heard they hit it off immediately, which led to them dating,” said an acquaintance of Tosaka.
Their respective agencies responded as follows to inquiries from Friday Digital.
