After Affair Allegations, Ryoki Miyama Faces Money Trouble Reports—and a Growing Countdown to Divorce

Many people involved are outrage, saying, unforgivable

Actor Ryoiki Miyama (27) was reported by “Weekly Bunshun” to be involved in an alleged affair with former Takarazuka actress Maria Kano (33), with whom he co-starred in the musical “Crash Landing on You.” His wife is actress Shuri (35), while his father-in-law is actor Yutaka Mizutani (74) and his mother-in-law is actress Ran Ito (age undisclosed). Meanwhile, Kano is also married and has a two-year-old child.

After the “Bunshun” report, the two admitted, almost as if they had coordinated their statements:

“It is true that we spent time together.”

However, they maintained:

“Our interactions were intended to deepen our understanding of the production and our respective roles.”

Furthermore, “Bunshun,” released on August 19, reported on Miyama’s financial troubles, stating that payments to employees of his private agency and business partners had reportedly fallen behind.

A sports newspaper entertainment reporter sarcastically remarked:

“One thing after another. In a sense, Mr. Miyama might be a savior for those of us in the entertainment media, constantly providing us with something to talk about.”

That said, for those directly involved, this is no laughing matter.

Above all, the emotional toll on Miyama’s wife, Shuri, must be immeasurable.

Before their marriage, it came to light that Miyama had been involved in an engagement-breakup dispute with a female influencer, yet Shuri continued to believe in her husband. Their long-awaited first child was born last September, and it seemed that Miyama had turned over a new leaf.

“Shuri isn’t conceited or arrogant simply because her parents are prominent actors, and she always responds politely to staff. She puts her all into everything she does. There are many people in the industry who are outraged at Miyama for making someone like her suffer, saying, ‘Unforgivable!’” (television industry source)

Shuri is currently starring in the TV Asahi drama series “Osozora Airport ~GATE24~,” and there have been reports suggesting that an “X-day” for divorce could arrive in October, after the drama ends. However, Miyama himself shows no signs of being willing to participate in a family meeting involving Mizutani and Ito, and continues to repeat his previous claim that his private meetings with Kano were:

“To deepen our understanding of our roles.”

 

It was for the sake of acting

A source in the entertainment industry familiar with the situation told this publication:

“The two have admitted to meeting alone, but they stubbornly insist that there was no romantic relationship between them. Apparently, they have maintained the same claim not only with the media but also with Shuri. It is true that they were photographed entering a hotel together, but there is no way to confirm what happened inside. Circumstantial evidence points overwhelmingly to guilt, yet Miyama himself proudly insists, ‘It was for the sake of acting.’ That’s what makes the situation so bad.”

However, there is no way Shuri would simply take those words at face value. After all, she had already trusted her husband despite the previous engagement-breakup dispute, and this is where things have ended up. “Bunshun” has also leaked what it says are exchanges between Miyama and Maria Kano during the controversy, and judging from those messages, their intimacy is hardly something that could be explained away as being for the sake of acting. The aforementioned entertainment industry source spoke in a hushed voice:

“It seems that Shuri’s side is not relying solely on media reports. They have been gathering information independently and appear to have concluded that it’s guilty. I think Miyama’s far-fetched claims will only backfire.”

Apparently, Shuri is also troubled by Miyama’s attitude toward childcare, as well as the fact that, despite his own behavior, he has strictly ordered his wife not to do steamy scenes or kissing scenes.

“Shuri’s agency also represents actress Anne, who divorced Masahiro Higashide after a messy affair scandal. As you can see from Anne’s career since then, the divorce did not result in any major damage to her image. That is probably thanks to the care provided by her agency. Shuri still has a path to break through as an actress by bringing things to a clean end rather than allowing the situation to become unnecessarily complicated.”

“FRIDAY” has reported that Miyama was pressuring Maria Kano to pursue a relationship while hinting at divorcing Shuri. The X-day for the couple’s marriage may not be very far away.
